Unique Rides Shows off a Jeep Wrangler

Jul 15, 2013

He's back!!!! One of my favorite car customizers, Will Castro, is back in the tri-state area. Miami didn't work out, and I'm gonna be honest, in my eyes (and in others) Miami was a mistake. When Unique Autosport was on Long Island, the work spoke for itself, and he had people coming out to LI just to get their car customized. Trust me, those with money only go to Long Island to go to the Hamptons, and I should know, I've lived on Long Island for almost 19 years.

Will started over with a new beginning, new name, in a new building, in a new state. Unique Rides is located in Ramsey, NJ- prime location because it's less than 30 miles away from Midtown Manahttan. One of the rides that he released photos for is a Jeep Wrangler that reminds me of a black and white cookie.

Can't wait to see what else comes out of Unique Rides...

Recapping Episode Two of Funkmaster Flex's Full Throttle

May 17, 2011

This past Sunday was episode two of Funkmaster Flex's Full Throttle. I recapped episode one last week. Episode two had Chris Brown and Cory Gunz stopping by.

Within the first couple of minutes of the show, Chris Brown showed up to the Team Baurtwell Garage tucked away in the Bronx (*smiles*). They talked cars for a brief second, with Chris admitting his love for a particular car- the Dodge Viper. He goes on to say that beyond admiration, he wants to purchase one... and he does. (See the bottom of this post as proof, since I don't want to take away from Flex's recap).

Is it me or is Chris Brown a pretty decent rapper. He's not bad, in fact he's better than some of the guys who actually call themselves rappers. And no, I don't stan for Chris Brown, nor have I met him before.

Between the two guests, Flex found time to go to the Tuff City Tattoo Parlor on Fordham Road in the Bronx, not to get a tattoo, but to pick up something. Then he makes it back in time for the highlight (in my personal opinion), Cory Gunz's interview/freestyle/presentation of gifts.

Within the interview, Cory admitted his love for a particular muscle car, the same one that I have the exact love for: The Ford Mustang. Flex, being the generous guy he is, gave Cory the Funkmaster Flex edition Ford Mustang GT, the same one that he gave to Snoop Dogg a few months prior. There isn't any photos of Cory Gunz and the Ford Mustang, so I had to go with the shots of the one he gave Snoop.

(Obviously Cory's doesn't have the Snoop Dogg Decal on the windshield)

I wished MTV would upload the entire episode since it's no longer than 17 minutes. Either way, my complaints about the show are the standard two: the episode could stand to be a little longer (I.E. At least the standard 22 minutes). With a longer episode, they could have stretched the actual customization of said car: instead of the camera walking around the car ONCE with Flex's voiceover. Either way, I just added Cory Gunz to my list of guys to race with my Road Trip Buddy...

I'll be watching again, this Sunday.

Now, back to Chris Brown. He did get the Dodge Viper, and in fact, he brought it to Unique Autosports for Will to work his magic on it. Don't believe me?

I wished I could have done the behind the scenes photos, at least they would have looked better. Just saying...

The Situation is at it again...

Jan 28, 2011

Inspired by Puffy, The Situation purchased not one, but two 2011 Jeep Wrangler Saharas- one for himself, and one for his brother, Marc. He didn't keep them customized, he bought it to his favorite customizer- Will Castro and Unique Autosports. Per TMZ, what was done was brand new leather interiors, a sound system complete with subwoofers, and 22″ rims. Total value of about $75,000 each. I'm happy that the customizations are very clean and understated.

Check out the photos:

And in case you forgot about the Bentleys...

Allow me to introduce two of Will Castro's newest clients...

Oct 4, 2010

Meet Mike Sorrentino, a sweet (can't confirm that one) Italian man who is originally from New York. He may look familiar cause he's on this little show on MTV called Jersey Shore and goes by the name of The Situation.

Season 2 of Jersey Shore didn't take place in Jersey, instead they took it to Miami, where he met Will Castro. Mike decided to take two gently used Bentley Continentals to Will to have them customized- one for him, one for his brother, Unique Autosports customized them, and in typical fashion, Will presented them to the Situation which will be aired on the Jersey Shore.

The second one happens to be my personal favorite from the Jersey Shore.

Meet Paul DelVecchio, more commonly known as DJ Pauly D from Providence, Rhode Island. After hearing that the Situation brought two Bentleys to Will, he decided to send his 2011 White Mercedes S550 to Unique Autosports for an upgraded sound system as well as...

Getting Pauly D on the trunk.

I see that they both like to have their names on their cars. Better them than me.

I guess GTLing and GFA has paid off. Guido Applications...

Bernie's Favorite: Unique Smoke Edition Camaro

May 11, 2010

I'm not being biased, alright, I am, but anything that has the "UA" (Unique Autosport) brand, is bound to be hot and clean...

(Photo from Tony Stewart Foundation

This isn't the first time that Will Castro of Unique Autosport and Nascar's own, Tony Stewart have teamed up. The latest between the two is a fully customized Camaro SS.

Ain't it pretty???

Let's talk about what's been done to it. If you have watched Unique Whips, you know that Will uses top of the line materials, so you really do get what you paid for. You pay a lot, you get a lot, and it lasts, unless if you decide to kick it or something...

Think of the stock Camaro SS, but with the final modifications:

  • Strut wheels with 22” Pirelli tires (huge surprise)
  • Black and White Painted Strut grille
  • Spies Hecker paint on a Glam Effect body kit by Classic Design Concepts
  • Smoked tail lights
  •  Tinted Windows
  • A Roadwire interior which will add comfort and style
  • JL Audio equipment
  •  State‐of‐the‐art filter and intake system by K&N. (If you saw the episode, they said that the filter will last for a million miles...)
  •  Borla Exhaust system
  • And finally, Baer Brakes

I think it looks pretty... but not as pretty as Pamela Anderson's trailer that Will customized. Don't judge me...

Bernie's Favorite: The Best Customized Vehicle That Unique Autosports Has Ever Done

May 6, 2010

Don't judge...

Well, it's not a car, it's not an SUV, it's more like a trailer. And it belongs to no other than Pamela Anderson. Again, I say... don't judge.

Sometime in 2006, Pam approached Will Castro and Unique Autosports to customize her Love-Stream trailer. Will took the challenge, there was some drama along the way (as shown in the complete episode of Unique Whips), and they completed it. It's a 2001 Airstream that was given to her by, you guessed it, Hugh Hefner, to be used as a dressing room on Baywatch.

The exterior is painted a pearlized white, with an awning, sitting on Pirelli Tires (of course), with the badging saying "Pam's Love-Stream". The most magical part is the interior...

She wanted it to have a 70's feel. With that in mind, there's the ultra shag carpet, white faux leather furniture and walls, mirrored ceilings, a satellite hook-up, Internet, the latest in gaming accessories, flat screen TV's, and external and internal audio and video, disco balls...

a white-on-white round vibrating bed and a pole that happens to light up.

If you own something like this, then why stay in a hotel... If I had something like this, I would not need to stay in a hotel. Maybe I should look into that. If I were to change it to Bernie's standards, I would not use white shag carpet, instead, I would have BLACK shag carpet, Black furniture and bed, no disco balls, and not have a vibrating bed with a pole in the middle.

As of December 2008, it was auctioned off, so she doesn't still own it.

And again I ask, stop judging me.

Recapping 2010 Dub Car Show In Memphis

Apr 23, 2010

First things first, who ever inforces the rules/laws at the Cook Convention Center in Downtown Memphis needs to be FIRED and this is why. Why would you come up with a stupid law about how you're not allowing cameras with lenses longer than three inches?!?!?!?!? Then I have to fight with security just to get in, and THEN you'se didn't run that dumb, IGNORANT rule by the folks at Dub. HOW IS IT HARDER TO COVER THE DUB CAR SHOW IN MEMPHIS, A MUCH SMALLER CITY, THAN IT IS TO COVER THE DUB CAR SHOW IN ATLANTA, WHICH IS CONSIDERED A MAJOR CITY. To the "City" (and I use that term very loosely) of Memphis, get your stuff together and I'mma need you to do better.

Sorry, but I did get very New York to get into the car show. But I wanted to go to Memphis to see how they do things, meaning their style of customizing cars. I did find a car that made my eyes twinkle, and the car will get it's own separate post, but now it's time for me to pick the cars apart.

The Bubble Starbust Chevy Impala...

Loved it!!!! Love the graphics, love the interior.

The doors were locked, but I understand why because there were a lot of kids there and with kids brings fingerprints, dirty hands, and messing this up. I think that the owner could have: A: Been nearby so I could have asked him some questions about it, and B: Color match the 24s. Take it a step further. Just sayin...

I hope Otis Jackson's platform is to rid Memphis of it's ignorant laws like the length of lens that you bring into the Cook Convention Center. I'm over it.

The Purple and Black Chevy Avalanche.

Love how the graphics of the truck continue into the grille. But what I didn't like is how the interior could have used some more work. Yeah, it has the purple ostrich seats with black suede inserts, but what about the dashboard and the center console, and the poor lonely chrome 26 inch Street Spin Wheels. And again, where was the owner???

The GMC Yukon with the 30 inch wheels in which I have to get a running start to land on the running boards.

I'm all for it when people customize their vehicles in honor of their favorite sports team. Of course, I'm not into Pittsburgh anything. Don't blame me, some of the Western Commonwealth Folks don't act right, and like I stated earlier in this post, I don't reward ignorance. So, so true.

Will had a heavy presence there. Tennessee is the home of Dewayne Robertson of the New York Jets, more specifically Orange Mound, Memphis. So Dewayne loves his neighborhood and decided to paint every single one of his vehicles Orange. How do I know this??? Because most of his vehicles have been on Unique Whips and has been done by Will Castro. Like this one...

And I know Will did it because look at the emblem on the Grille...

Finally, the second runner up, that gave me short-term sparkle... The Chrysler 300 SRT-8.

Lexani wheels with Lexani written on the lip.

Color matched grille, color matched engine performance options, halogen blue lights, subtile body kit, everything was perfect, except for one thing. The owner was no where to be found.

Louisville loves Pirelli Tires, South Georgia/Northern Florida loves Dub Wheels, and Memphis loves to customize their vehicles and then abandon them at car shows. But the person who customized my favorite vehicle at the show stayed by his Lexus and I could see why. Coming soon is the Pink Lexus that I'm sure Cam'ron would have borrowed in 2005.

Will Castro Teaches Nicki Minaj How To Drive A Lamborghini Murciélago.

Apr 21, 2010

I'm honest predicting a Will Castro's School of Driving in the near future. And if he does, I'm highly suggesting a Memphis campus, because they need it.

Anyway, Will caught up with Nicki at the BET Spring Bling and taught her how to burn rubber in the mean streets of Florida in a Lamborghini Murciélago.

(Video from Unique Autosports' Youtube Channel)

Don't be surprised if you see a Unique Driving School or a Unique Defensive Driving Course in the near future...
