Bernie's Car Show Coverage: 2021 Texas Whip Fest

Aug 31, 2021

For the first time ever, I traveled to Dallas, Texas for the Texas Whip Fest Car Show. Dallas has been on my radar for the past few years. Back at the Dub Car Show in Charlotte, some of the members of the Menace Car Club told me that I should check out the Dub Show in Dallas. Well because of the Panasonic, Dub has postponed their car shows (which is understandable), which led me to doing research on the biggest car shows in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.... and on June 26th, I found myself sweating at the Texas Motorplex outside of Dallas, in Ennis, TX.

Let me get this one point out the way... it was hot. It was in the mid-90s and I felt like I was melting. I kept running into the restroom to wipe sweat off, I kept asking people "how do you survive in this heat?" and then I ran into my friend for the day...

this portable air conditioner.

The heat was the only thing I could complain about. This show was great. There were so many cars, I didn't get to see everything. And... the cars were quality vehicles. I cried tears of joy... or maybe it was the sweat from how hot it was.

First and foremost, I have to mention Caddy Customs which is located outside of Dallas. Not only did they have the largest booth with an array of customized vehicles, I actually fell in love with one of the vehicles parked in their area.

Caddy Customs brought this 1974 Caprice Classic that was completely blacked out- including the grill, wheels, interior, trunk and taillights.

Speaking of Caprice Classics, a pair of dunks from Austin, TX showed up and they were completely customized. I had no idea that Austin had such vehicles.

It's kind of hard to pinpoint what types of vehicles that Texas loves because... they all showed up to Whip Fest. You had regular pickup trucks (not sure of the terminology. Remember, I'm from New York and I've seen more Bentleys than pickup trucks there), then there were pickup trucks on lifted suspensions. Then there's your American muscle cars- Challengers, Chargers, Camaros.... also saw some classic American muscle cars, donks, boxes, bubbles, a TON of G-bodies, a few lowriders parked and even some luxury/exotic cars.
