Bernie's Favorite: Maybe Dreams Do Come True- Presenting the Body Ink Mustang.

Aug 12, 2011

In 2009, Ford was running a contest about the 2010 redesigning of the classic Ford Mustang. One of the winners happened to be Daniel Velarde, who sent in an essay as well as his Ford story. His concept was easy, yet unique. As a hardcore Ford Mustang lover, he wanted a Mustang to match his tattoo...

And Ford kept their promise, and Daniel's dream came true as he was presented with a 2010 Ford Mustang GT that matched his tattoo...

Ford dropped off the Mustang to the world famous Galpin Auto Sports, outside of LA, where the team did a little bit more than a paint job. According to Mustang Evolution.com, they started out with a Silver 2010 Mustang GT Premium with charcoal/cashmere interior, a glass roof, heated seats, HID headlights, electronics package – including navigation and sync, and an automatic transmission. However, Galpin added the 85 hour paint job of the running skeleton mustang on the side, full Ford Racing suspension, Ford Racing exhaust, 20” Foose chrome Nitro wheels (which they brought his girlfriend in to pick out for him), hood scoop, side scoops and side window lovers. Ford also paid for the matching tattoo on Daniel’s arm.

Oh, I'm not done with the customization rundown. After Daniel received the car, he did his own customizations as well like:
TruFiber Carbon Fiber Super Snake Hood
TruFiber Carbon Fiber Trunk Lid
TruFiber Carbon Fiber Side Skirts
TruFiber Carbon Fiber Mirror Caps
TruFiber Carbon Fiber GT500 Rear Spoiler
TruFiber Carbon Fiber Rear Diffuser
TruFiber Carbon Fiber Front Splitter
Paxton NOVI-2200 Supercharger
20” Vossen VVS084 Rims
Tires are Vredestein Giugiaro Ultrac Sessanta (look it up – great tires)
Dash signed by Vaugh Gittin Jr. & Justin Pawlak.

Daniel views customizing his car like getting a tattoo. "It is a very personal expression of something you are passionate about," he says.

I absolutely love stories like this, because it has to do with creativity, personality, and passion. You gotta love it.

P.S. He's working on more customizations in time for SEMA 2011.
