By 2014, Maserati will be a lovely family of five...

According to the hot guys at Car and Driver, because of the demands of the Chinese affluent buyers, Maserati will be expanding their lineup, which will benefit Maserati enthusiasts all over the country.

There will be a new Quattroporte, plus a smaller scale Quattroporte (Like how the Rolls Royce Ghost is a smaller scale version of the Phantom). New engines will be introduced as well, including a 400-hp MultiAir-equipped, turbocharged version of the Pentastar V-6 and a newly available 300-hp V-6 turbo-diesel benefiting from Fiat Powertrain Technology’s latest generation of JTD II high-pressure diesel injection and management. Whether the latter can come play in the U.S. is yet to be decided.

Rumor has it that both Maserati sedans will offer all-wheel drive versions using the ingenious technology, and the cars also will have ZF’s eight-speed automatic gearbox to help ease fuel-consumption and improve highway cruising manners.

The fresh Quattroporte arrives at the end of 2012 and the semi-QP comes one year later.

And the one I'm anxious to see... The Maserati SUV will be constructed in the US within the headquarters of Jeep, so it'll probably be a uber-luxurious version of the Grand Cherokee and that's to be done by 2014.

So, by 2014, look for a five-model lineup at your local Maserati dealer: Quattroporte, Semi Quattroporte, GranTurismo, GT convertible, and the performance SUV.
