Funkmaster Flex Is At It Again...

Apr 7, 2010

(Me and Funk Flex, waaaaaay back in '07)

If you’re from the Tri-State area (like me, and yes Long Island is included), you know who Funkmaster Flex is. If not, I’ll go wikipedia on you for a minute.

Funkmaster Flex is most commonly known as a DJ for Hot 97. Following Angie Martinez, he’s on from 7pm-12am during the week. When he plays a song and he really likes it, he’ll drop bombs on the song. The more he likes it, the more bombs he drops. He has dropped over 10 bombs on a single rotation.

Besides being a DJ, he’s real heavy into cars. He hosts the Funkmaster Flex Car Show as well as having several shows where he’s customized one of Ludacris’ vehicles, taking Lil’ Kim to a chop shop, going to car shows, etc. Plus in his show, he informs viewers on new products that they can try in their rides.

Well he’s back with a new show and a new line of Ford Taurus. His show is called Full Throttle, with the premise to be about the hottest names in hip-hop talking about cars, girls, music, while being in Flex’s custom shop.

Now for the vehicle. First he did the Expedition, now he’s moved on to the Taurus. The 2010 Funkmaster Flex Edition Ford Taurus, also known as the Taurus SHO. The purpose behind the customization was to take the vehicle and customize it in a way to preserve the timeless aspect and to make it mature. The exterior of the vehicle features a two-tone black and metal grey paint job complete with custom black 22-inch wheels and Pirelli tires. The vehicle was also lowered with a HR spring kit and a Billet Grille and custom door handles were added. In addition, the vehicle features a one-off front spoiler and rear window wing. The interior was left the same with the exception of adding a black suede headliner and the signature FMF logos on the headrests. The Engine has been replaced with the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6, which delivers V-8 levels of power (roughly about 365 horsepower), but with the V-6 fuel economy.

I wonder what’s next on Flex’s agenda??? For more on him, head to Funkmaster Flex.com

Wishful thinking: Lamborghini Reventon

Apr 5, 2010

This is for the wishful thinkers out there… And those you can actually afford it.

The most expensive Lamborghini to date, is the Reventón. 21 were created, but 20 can be purchased. One of them is reserved for the Lamborghini museum. Totaling $1.5 million, the Reventón has been claimed as the most powerful in the Lambo family.

Let’s talk specs…

Engine: 6.5 L V-12 with 650 hp (I would get in too much trouble with this vehicle)
Transmissions: 6 Speed e-gear or 6 Speed Manual Transmission.
Top Speed: 221 Mph
0-62: 3.2 sec (same as the Murcielago)
MPG: If you’re actually thinking about how many miles to the gallon this vehicle gets, then this is not the vehicle for you. But I’ll be nice and tell you that it gets 7 mpg in the city and roughly 15 on the highway…

Added bonus: the Reventón is the first Lambo model to feature daytime running lights.

Say if you were the lucky few that has the money to purchase the Reventón, the easiest way to customize the vehicle is to change the color. The Reventón is available in one color. The color is an opaque green/grey that has special metallic particles, but isn’t high gloss.

My money is on either Soulja Boy, Akon, Lil’ Wayne, or 50 Cent already having the Lamborghini Reventón…

Bernie's Top 10 Vehicles: The 2011 Vehicle I've Been Waiting For...

Apr 2, 2010

Rarely do I get uber excited over a new vehicle before it comes out. I like to see it, hear about it, you know. But… I’ve been reading about this vehicle, and I really can’t wait to see it. I feel as though as strange as I am (or I’ve been told I am), this car would be me. I love Bentley Continentals, Range Rover Sports, Dodge Challengers, etc as much as the next person, but originality does go a long way.

If I were a vehicle, I would be a 2011 Nissan Juke. Okay, the Juke is the new crossover from Nissan. It’s actually smaller than the Rogue, it’s 163 in long, 69.5 in wide, and 61.8 in high. The Engine is 1.6L MR16DDT turbo I4, with only 180 horsepower. Two transmissions are offered – Nissan’s advanced Xtronic CVT™ (Continuously Variable Transmission) with S-Mode and a 6-speed manual transmission (SV FWD and SL FWD models only).

Available features range from leather-appointed seats and RearView Monitor to Nissan Intelligent Key™ with Push Button Ignition, navigation system with real-time traffic information and power sliding moonroof. A long list of standard safety features is also available, including six air bags, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) and Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC).

Of course, I would make some changes to it. The color will be, you guessed it, BLACK!!!! Definitely throw some D’s on that…. The wheelbase is 100 inches, so I could probably fit some 20s on it, comfortably. I’m not into hugging the wheel well, rubbing, or cutting things out. Sometimes bigger isn’t always better and the way I drive, I can’t replace rims as often as I get my oil changed. Anyway, I would go towards something like the Asanti AF 143 wheel, basically what I call the “daisy-looking wheel” (I’m such a girl), and if they have a lip on it, even better. But it will be in…. BLACK. The most I would do to the front is chrome out the grill.

I would just leave the rear of the vehicle as is, no blacking out the taillights or anything. As far as the interior goes, I’m not sure as of yet. I just want to see it… then drive it. I know this vehicle will get attention, but I always gotten attention in any vehicle I’ve driven.

This vehicle is not for everyone. Fortunately Bernie isn't everyone. Photos courtesy of NissanJukeNYC.com.

Upcoming Car Show: 2010 Dub Car Show, New York

Apr 1, 2010

Short post, The Dub Car Show will be combined with the New York International Auto Show. However, the Dub Car Show will be the last three days of the NYIAS, April 9th-11th, Friday and Saturday 11-10:30pm, Sunday 10-7:30pm. Since I can't be there, I'll be on the lookout for some good photos.

That's why I'm going to the 2011 New York International Auto Show. I wonder if media can still go in when it's open to the public. If not, I'm always down to support a good car show...

P.S. Nelly's 2011 Wide-bodied Mustang GT will be there... I'll see it when it comes to Memphis.

Upcoming Car Show: 2010 King of Kingz Easter Car Show

I missed it the previous years, but I will be making my appearance at the King of Kingz Easter Car Show this weekend in Valdosta. So coverage will be on this site... Stay tuned.
