Bernie's Car Show Coverage: 2021 Certified Summer Car Show

Aug 16, 2021

Despite the weather, Whips By Wade stayed true to his word and held the third annual "Certified Summer Car Show" on June 19th. Let's run through the list of weather conditions that the Certified Summer Car Show has been through. First annual show had cloudy conditions and was rained out halfway through. The second annual show had perfect weather. Now the third annual show was one for the record books...

The night before, Tropical Storm Claudette decided to head towards Atlanta. Mind you, people are traveling to attend this show and what would have been the Street Beast 5 show the next day. It was going to be a great car show weekend in the Atlanta area (and believe me, we don't get that many of those). Street Beast was rescheduled since it was going to be held at a race track and you can't race on a track that has any precipitation on it, not even a light mist.

First time for everything, and I attended an outdoor car show that was held during a tropical storm. Cars actually showed up and people came as well, even though everyone was walking around in windy/rainy conditions.

Enough talking because I want you to see who was crazy enough to join me at a car show in a tropical storm...

Bernie's Car Show Coverage: 2021 Krazy Vatos Lowrider Super Show

Aug 4, 2021

I know I am so far behind on my blog posts. On June 13th, the Krazy Vatos Car Club held their annual Lowrider Super Show in Austell, GA. Much like how their shows were pre-Panera Bread, Krazy Vatos can definitely put on a car show.

What did I see? I'm so glad you asked. I'm going to start with the vehicles I've never seen before.

First off, this Buick Rivera was my absolute favorite. I just love the overall execution of it. Between the color scheme, the fact that it's a Buick and not a Chevy, and that it was bold, yet subtle-- if that makes sense.

Never seen this grass green '53 Bel Air before.

All three of these Impalas share the same principal- very simple, yet clean.

Seafood green and gold is an interesting combination... but it works.

Love the detail on this Impala. Just the paint alone was enough for me.

I feel like every inch of this Impala is customized and no matter how much I see it, it will never get old. Speaking of the Obsession Car Club, we can't forget..

This Bel-Air will always be a fan favorite at car shows. Although I am a Yankees fan and a lifelong New Yorker, I can appreciate this Chevy since it's an accurate representation of Los Angeles culture and the amount of detail in it is incredible.

This is one of the first Lowriders I was ever introduced to... and it's still holding up strong.

Seeing this truck (with the update) was bittersweet. I remember photographing this truck last year at the Krazy Vatos show but it looked a little different. I showed the owner the photo and he told me that as him and his family were on their way home from last year's show, they were in an accident that killed his granddaughter. As a tribute to his granddaughter, he added this mural to the side of the truck.

I'm not a fan of pickup trucks, but I always love seeing this '53 Ford F100. Just gorgeous.

I know you're sick of me talking so here's some more photos...
