Bernie's Test Drive: 2011 Chevy Camaro SS

Apr 6, 2011

At the AJC Car Show, I had the opportunity to burn rubber test drive a 2011 Chevy Camaro SS, and it was red!!!

Although I drove it in the height of the rush hours in downtown Atlanta, I couldn't put the petal to the metal and see what it could really do. Let's talk specs...

6.2-liter V8 engine with six-speed automatic transmission along with rear wheel drive. It offers 426 horsepower. 112.3 inch wheelbase, 190.4 inches long, 75.5 inches wide, and 54.2 inches tall. 0-60: 5.1 seconds and the EPA is rated at 16/24 mpg city/highway. Roughly $31,000 MSRP.

If I were to compare the Camaro SS with the Ford Mustang GT that I left tire skidmarks all over Vegas in, two advantages that the Camaro has over the Mustang is that it's bigger and when you drive over uneven surfaces, you don't feel it as much. The one thing that I hated about the Mustang was that I felt everything, everything on the road, and I was sitting on Pirellis. Imagine if I was on some cheap tires. All in all, I did like the Camaro, but that Mustang has my heart... for now.
