Ridin Music: Clifford's Paper Trail
Sep 30, 2010
I’m never one to lie, but I was never a long time TI fan. I’m a recently converted one. I bought the King album, but that was the extent of his catalog that I purchased. Let’s continue with the honesty, when I’m Serious came out, I was living in NY where a certain rapper was rhyming about Girls, Girls, Girls, and how he had more 6’s than 1st grade was ruling the airwaves. Then I moved down here, and his songs started to appeal to me and it led me to buying his album, and eventually meeting him.
We all know about his life, especially what happened in October ’07. It happened, he learned from it, he’s moved on from it, and he composed a hot album because of it. The name of the album was derived from him actually writing down his lyrics on paper seeing how the last time he did that was I’m Serious.
Ironically, even though Clifford was going through what he was going through, Paper Trail sold 357,000 in the first three days and sold enough copies to make it his best debut to date AND the fourth best selling album that year. Eventually the album was certified 2x platinum by the RIAA (And the RIAA don’t lie).
16 tracks make up this collection including songs like “Ready For Whatever”, “Swing Ya Rag”, “What Up, What Haapnin’”, “Every Chance I Get”, “Swagga Like Us”, the commercial favorites- “Whatever You Like” , “Live Your Life”, and “Dead and Gone”, this album doesn’t fall short. But my favorite track happens to be the shortest track on the entire album- “56 Bars”, and in my cooky, eccentric mind, T.I. will have a hard time topping that song. And yes, this album is in the center console of my Envoy between “What the World’s Been Missing” and “Tha Carter III”.
After this album, he released two mixtapes (A Year And A Day and F’ a Mixtape), a movie (Takers), and another album that will be released one day (King Uncaged).
But yet, I still love 56 Bars. Seriously, when's King Uncaged coming out???
Bernie Can't Confirm Nor Deny This But:

Could it be... Swizz Beatz and Aston Martin teaming up? Anything is possible these days.
Again, I can't confirm or deny, but I'll have to watch Swizzy's twitter closely.
Upcoming Car Show: This isn't your everyday car show...
Sep 24, 2010
World Class Driving is having their Car Show tour pull into Atlanta on October 1, 2010. Before you say "I'm there", let me finish. The US Supercar tour is designed for you to "drive a selection of the world's most elite supercars on a thrilling road course. During this five hour event, you'll switch and compare performance and handling between five incredible exotic supercars from Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bentley and more - discovering for yourself what makes them so special." (Paraphrased from worldclassdriving.com)
They have two time slots for each day, each time slot only costs $1695.00. You read that correctly, but you have to realize- look what you'll drive. Even though the only thing I can afford to do is look, I'll haul it out to Braselton (wherever that is) and check it out. I can always get some interviews.
I just looked at the car lineup, and it looks like my dream Bentley will make an appearance.
Remember what World Class Driving always says: Life Is Short, Just Drive.
Upcoming Car Show: Funkmaster Flex Car Show, RI.
Judging by the lineup, Flex is bringing New York to Rhode Island. Most importantly, he's bringing JuJu and 'Kiss. At least for next time, I know to go into the show with Jadakiss instead of obtaining my own media pass. Flex needs to fix that...
I wonder if Pauly D will be there. Isn't he from Providence???
Recapping the 2010 Obsessionfest
Sep 23, 2010
I decided to trek the 'Voy into unfamiliar territory into Commerce, GA for the 2010 Obsessionfest. This show was a little different, and I decided to bring some company with me. I wanted to bring someone who has an appreciation for lowrider, or I should say California culture, so I brought Killer Mike with me. Mike is actually dabbling in photography, and he brought his camera to get some shots as well, but he wanted some guidance (a.k.a. Me) to help him out.
(Note: When he's in his photography mode, he goes by Michael Santiago, which is his birth first and middle names.)
I have to admit, I was proud of the shots that Mike took. His strength is definitely photographing people, but he didn't do bad photographing the automobiles either. I'll let you know when he post the photos up, he wants to wait until I can help him go through them, but the thing is, he has to answer when I call.
That's enough about Killer Mike.
Now for my opinion of the show: I enjoyed it because it was a good change of pace that infused some culture into it as well. What I loved about the vehicles would be the graphics, and unlike a lot of customized cars that I've seen lately, they don't use stickers...
For example:
But the car with the best graphics is...
Closeup:
Bam... Told you.
But onto the Cali culture...
(This reminded me of Killer Mike's Tattoos that Mr Cartoon did)
(When I make it out to LA, I'm getting a plaque that says "Bernie" and put it in the 'Voy)
(This Impala was cute...)
P.S. Here's Mike's parting words...
And my shorts weren't short.
I do have some videos to add from the car hop to this post (it'll be up shortly) but until then, for the rest of the photos, go to Obsessionfest gallery @ BeTrueATL.com
Production starts for the Mercedes-Benz A-Class E-CELL
Sep 22, 2010
Out of the house of Germany: Following the start of production of the smart fortwo electric drive and the B-Class F-CELL by the end of 2009, the company is now gearing up the production of its third electric passenger car: the Mercedes-Benz A‑Class E-CELL. With the electrified A-Class, Daimler aims to gain experience concerning the integration of battery-electric drives into four-seated vehicles and the use by customers in order to consistently apply this technology to other models in the future. A total of 500 locally emission-free vehicles based on the current A-Class will be manufactured at the Rastatt site. Thanks to its maturity in life cycle and to its conceptual construction, the current A-Class model is the ideal basis for an all-electric vehicle for the city, urban and interurban areas. The vehicles will be leased with a full-service rent model to selected customers in various European countries, including Germany, France and the Netherlands.
Based on the current A-Class, the family five-seater with battery-electric drive system is suitable for daily use and offers a spacious and flexible interior and luggage compartment. As the batteries are located extremely well-protected and in a space-saving way underneath the vehicle floor, no compromises were necessary to achieve this. Its two high-performance lithium-ion batteries give the car a range of more than 200 km (NEDC). The necessary traction is provided by a quiet-running, locally emission-free electric drive with a top performance of 70 KW (95 hp) and an impressive 290 Nm of torque..
The production of the A-Class E-CELL will be integrated into the series production line for the A-Class in Rastatt. For the electric A-Class, Mercedes-Benz applies all the development and production standards of series production to an electric vehicle with battery-electric drive system. All electrical components meet the high standards in terms of quality, reliability and service life that are self-evident for Mercedes-Benz.
In terms of production, only minor adjustments have been necessary in order to integrate the A-Class E-CELL: as an example, new consoles for fixing the lithium-ion batteries were provided in the floor structure of the current A-Class. No changes to the bodywork structure were necessary. Assembly, including the pre-assembly of major components and the so-called 'marriage', the fitting of the drive train into the carriage, take place within the standard production line for the A-Class. Only the assembly and commissioning of the innovative lithium-ion batteries is undertaken at a separate station. Every A-Class E-CELL is then guided back into the standard A-Class production line for chassis dynamometer testing, rain test, final inspection and finish.
Particular attention is paid at the plant to the qualification of staff. Ever since Mercedes-Benz is producing high-voltage systems for standard-production vehicles, such as those installed in the S 400 HYBRID, the B-Class F-CELL or from now on in the A-Class E-CELL, all staff members involved have undergone training programmes specifically fitted to the work with high-voltage technologies.
"We have perfectly prepared our staff for working with these new, alternative technologies. Over the course of several training modules, they have been able to gain the essential qualifications for their future tasks. We are thus able to ensure that they are absolutely ready to work with high-voltage components", underlines Uwe Reich, Project Manager for the production of the A-Class E-CELL. Step by step, employees have been able to familiarise themselves with the necessary safety measures on the vehicle, the high-voltage components and on the installation of high-voltage systems. A central training production line within the Rastatt plant allows staff to put into practice what they have learned and to prepare them for their future responsibilities on the standard production line.
Between 2009 and 2012, Daimler AG will be investing some €600 million in extending the existing facilities and in building a new bodyshell work hall at the Rastatt plant. A further €10 million will be invested into the modification and updating of the paint shop. These investments underline once again Daimler AG's commitment to sustainability and to the significance of the Rastatt plant as a centre of competence for compact vehicles.
On Star Relaunches Its Brand With Focus on Responsible Connection
Sep 21, 2010
From the greatest city in the world: New York - OnStar is launching new services, capabilities and technology for its nearly 6 million subscribers as part of a top-to-bottom realignment of the company’s long-term strategy built around ‘responsible connectivity.’
OnStar plans to pilot major innovations that significantly increase drivers’ in-car connection to the world, while extending its safety leadership in the automotive industry.
“These initiatives are all about OnStar’s role in keeping drivers and passengers connected and safe,” said OnStar President Chris Preuss. “Building on the rock-solid foundation of OnStar’s safety and security platform, we were given a clear directive to develop OnStar as one of the chief pillars in defining General Motors’ business going forward.”
And here's the highlights along with my colorful commentary.
New Technology Testing:
OnStar subscribers and technology insiders got a first look at OnStar’s new technologies that are enabled through the ninth generation hardware:
Audio Facebook Updates: OnStar showcased in-car social media interactions that are being tested. If implemented, Audio Facebook Updates would allow OnStar subscribers to verbally update their Facebook status message through audio recordings and/or listen to their most recent news feed messages through the OnStar Virtual Advisor service.
Voice Texting: OnStar revealed beta tests for voice-based SMS (short message service). This feature would enable customers to have their text messages read to them using Bluetooth.
The Bluetooth technology allows users to connect their mobile device to their vehicle and receive automated text messages. With one button press, on the steering wheel, users can reply to a text by verbally selecting a preset response.
OnStar MyLink:
OnStar announced the OnStar MyLink sub-brand for mobile phone applications. Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac mobile apps powered by OnStar will allow owners to remotely activate all functions available on a traditional key fob, including remote start, horn and lights and door locks and unlocks securely from select smartphones. Versions have already been shown for the Chevrolet Volt electric vehicle with extended range capability and the all-new Chevrolet Cruze compact sedan.
Redesigned IT Infrastructure:
OnStar revealed its Advanced Telematics Operations Management System (ATOMS) computing platform, one of the most powerful and comprehensive machine-to-machine telematics systems in the world. ATOMS allows for advanced geo-boxing and voice-texting engines, including Audio Facebook Updates. OnStar services are rigorously tested to ensure they are consistent with GM’s safe driver principles and help reduce distracted driving.
9th Generation of Hardware:
OnStar also unveiled its ninth generation hardware that improves the user experience with new natural voice recognition, Bluetooth phonebook, improved navigation, the ability to work with advanced traffic management and severe weather alert services, also known as geo-boxed notification services.
Here's my thing with automated voice communication: What if you speak with an accent or do not use the King's English? Let's be honest, I have a hard enough time tawking -- I mean-- talking (I type how I speak) to those who are from other parts of the US and them not understanding me. I say "Coffee" like how I was taught to say it, and how others said it around me. What if you have a British accent like Naomi Campbell, or a Southern accent like Clifford Harris? If On Star had a specific accent download, I would activate On Star in my Ray of Sunshine so fast...
I won't even explore the whole ebonics thing. So many questions, but I want to try it...
The Last of a Dying Breed
Sep 20, 2010
Out of the house of BMW: BMW has announced the end of production of the BMW M6 Coupé and the BMW M6 Convertible. The two high-performance models provide the most exclusive opportunity to experience on normal roads the hallmark athleticism of M vehicles combined with drive and chassis technology inspired by the world of motor racing. In total 14,152 examples of these high-performance sports cars were built: 9,087 units of the Coupé, which launched in 2005; and 5,065 Convertible models, presented the following year.
With the departure of these two fascinating and exceptional athletes and the already discontinued fourth-generation BMW M5, production will now also cease for the unique V10 high-rev engine. For years the 373 kW/507 hp powerplant has set the benchmark for delivering sheer power in cars that are both highly dynamic in character and symbolic of the outstanding expertise of BMW M GmbH in developing high-performance engines. For two years in succession, 2005 and 2006, the ten-cylinder unit took overall victory in the prestigious Engine of the Year Award, and in the two years that followed achieved first place on each occasion in the category for engines with displacement above 4 litres.
The stand-out feature of this unique engine, developed exclusively for the BMW M5 and BMW M6 models, is power delivery that is both extremely dynamic and smooth even at higher loads. Output is developed from a 5-litre displacement split between ten combustion chambers, with the two banks of cylinders cranked at 90 degrees to one another. The engine delivers maximum output at 7,750 rpm, with engine speed eventually peaking at 8,250 rpm, and it has maximum torque of 520 Nm. In addition to the high-rev concept, a number of other technological details – electronically-controlled individual throttle valves, an ionic current control system and lateral force-controlled oil supply – were also directly derived from motor racing.
In much the same way, design principles of chassis technology and lightweight construction also found their way from the race track to the road. In the case of the BMW M6 Coupé, for example, carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) – a material that largely owes its introduction in the automotive sector to Formula One – was used in both the roof and bumper design. Its power-to-weight ratio of 3.37 kilograms per hp is another unbeatable key indicator in the profile of the BMW M6 Coupé. Moreover, its outstanding performance characteristics are additionally supported by seven-speed SMG Drivelogic and Launch Control for maximum acceleration from a standing start, the speed-sensitive variable M differential lock, and model-specific chassis technology, including Electronic Damper Control (EDC) and compound brakes. Standstill to 100 km/h acceleration time is a mere 4.6 seconds. The BMW M6 Convertible takes just 0.2 seconds longer, giving the driver time to appreciate not only the thrilling dynamic performance but also the irresistible flair of an open-top premium sports car in the luxury class.
The BMW M6 Coupé and BMW M6 Convertible received worldwide acclaim as dream cars for automotive enthusiasts with sporting ambitions. The number one market for both models was the US, which recorded sales of 3,528 closed and 3,247 open-top vehicles, followed by Germany (1,183 / 541 units). In third position for sales of the BMW M6 Coupé came Great Britain and Ireland, with 619 vehicle registrations; in the case of the BMW M6 Convertible it was Canada, with 209 units sold.
Sales of the BMW M5 followed a similar pattern. The United States once again came out on top, with sales of 8,786 vehicles. Then, after the domestic market of Germany (2,473 units), Great Britain and Ireland generated the next highest demand on the continent of Europe, with 1,980 vehicles. In total the BMW M5 recorded global sales of over 20,000 cars in under five years, with current figures of 19,494 units for the BMW M5 Saloon and a further 1,009 units for the BMW M5 Touring, available since 2007.
The total combined figures for the fourth-generation BMW M5 exceed even those of its predecessor model, which was in production for six years. With that it has secured the current high point in the success story of the BMW M5, the first generation of which established the vehicle segment of high-performance saloons at its introduction in 1984.
1984 was a good year. Two guesses why?

Chi-Town!!! The final stop of the 2010 NOPI/HIN tour is in the hometown of LisaRaye, President Obama, Twista, and Hugh Hefner. On September 25-26, you will not be at a White Sox game (it's not like you'll be missing anything, unless if they're playing the Yankees). Instead the NOPI/HIN finale will be at Soldier Field in Chicago. I'm guessing you know how to get there, if not, ask one of the four names I mentioned earlier, if you happen to know them personally. I know I don't.
Well if you want to go to the show, get those tickets in advance. Click on the banner above, and order the tickets online. THEN type " BERNIENOPI " in the Promo Code...
Chicago should end this tour with a BANG!!!

EPA Threatens to Raise Ethanol Content in Gasoline
Under pressure from ethanol producers to raise the ethanol content in gasoline, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) could issue a decision later this month allowing the use of E15 in late-model cars. It could permit the use in other cars at a later date. The SEMA Action Network (SAN) opposes the shift from E10 to E15 due to concerns that the additional content will harm automobiles of all ages, including special interest collector and historic vehicles. To date, there is a lack of conclusive information regarding E15’s effect on engines of different model years. In addition to the potential harm of E15 on engine components, the EPA has no procedure in place to ensure misfueling does not occur or any plan for ensuring regular gasoline continues to be available for older vehicles. The SAN’s concerns are shared by a number of other industry organizations.
We Urge You to Ask President Obama (Contact Information Below) to Stop the EPA from Raising the Ethanol Content in Gasoline
Dear Mr. President:
I strongly urge you to stop the Environmental Protection Agency from raising the amount of ethanol in gasoline from today’s 10 percent (E10) to 15 percent (E15) – a 50 percent increase.
The EPA is under pressure from some corporate ethanol supporters to raise the rates in order to boost sales. However, scientific studies have not yet been completed on concerns that the added content could harm auto parts of all ages.
When ethanol levels are raised, engines react differently and in a potentially dangerous way. Ethanol causes engines to burn hotter which could lead to premature engine and equipment failure. For newer cars, the “check engine” light may appear unnecessarily or too late to avoid costly repairs.
Ethanol also increases water formation in the fuel system, especially when the vehicle sits over a period of time. Under these conditions, formic acid is created which corrodes metals, plastics and rubber. This can lead to engine/parts failures and, potentially, safety hazards.
If the EPA approves E15, it will state that the increased ethanol is only for recent model cars. However, once a new fuel mix enters the gasoline supply system, it will inevitably end up in the wrong engines.
Gasoline without any ethanol may simply disappear from the marketplace for millions of Americans with older cars or special interest collector and historic vehicles. E10 has already made this a reality in many areas of the country.
The EPA should wait until all of the scientific research is complete. There is no need for a rush to judgment.
DON’T DELAY! Please contact President Obama at http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact
Please e-mail a copy of your letter to Steve McDonald at stevem@sema.org. Thank you for your assistance.

LUMMA Design provides BMW 7 Series with broad-scoped aerodynamics package
Sep 15, 2010
Out of the house of LUMMA Design:
LUMMA Design gives the BMW 7 Series a wider look. The unique aerodynamics package lends the luxury limousine a more self-assured appearance, without neglecting the Munich model’s elegant design or making it come across as flashy. Selected applications made from genuine carbon and 22 inch light alloy wheels ensure that the BMW with its noble finish exhibits independence while staying true to its sportiness. Aluminium in the interior lends an individual touch.
The fact that LUMMA Design has a sense of BMW’s design language already becomes apparent in the front spoiler bumper. The curvature of the bonnet and the kidney front grille find their match in the new LUMMA front, which integrates grid inserts, fog lights and LED daytime running lights. The new shapely look is completed by the cup spoiler sword.
The ten-piece wheels arch extensions are key to the new sporty appearance: the luxury limousine becomes significantly wider, ensuring a dominant appearance. The door attachments and rear apron corners make for harmonious integration of the extension set and the full aerodynamics package.
LUMMA Design offers a set of deep door-sills that has been designed especially for the BMW 7 Series with its extended wheelbase, so as to bridge the parameterisation of the wheels arch extensions.
The aerodynamics package is completed by the new rear diffuser. Besides ensuring additional downforce, the diffuser highlights the sporty aspiration of the refined limousine.
The dynamic appearance of the LUMMA BMW is enhanced even further by the genuine carbon applications produced by the refining experts in Germany. My New Lover: The New Bentley Continental GT
Sep 14, 2010
I tried to give you the chopped and screwed version cause Bentley had a lot to say. But who can blame them, look at the car... and I didn't want to cut anything out.
For Crewe’s design and engineering teams, the new Continental GT coupe is an opportunity to set a bold and exciting direction for one of Bentley’s most revered names – the Continental. The seminal and highly successful Continental GT introduced in 2003 represented the first step in Bentley’s renaissance anddefined a whole new market segment. It was a luxury GT offering excellent usability that remained true to the Bentley grand touring spirit.
Now the new Continental GT 4-seat coupe builds on the success of its iconic predecessor, capturing that GT spirit but with even higher standards of design, engineering, luxury, craftsmanship, dynamic performance, everyday practicality and refinement.
A beautifully sculptured new body gives the GT coupe an even crisper, more defined appearance. The contemporary interior offers new levels of cabin design, comfort and hand-crafted luxury. The seats, for example, provide even greater support and rear leg-room; a sweeping dashboard even more style and modernity. The new touchscreen infotainment system features state-of-the-art navigation, Google Maps and entertainment while the latest Balanced Mode Radiator speaker technology and Dirac Dimensions™ digital sound processing deliver enhanced audio quality.
Bentley’s acclaimed 6-litre, 12-cylinder, twin-turbocharged powertrain now has a raised power output of 575PS (567bhp/423kW) and 700Nm (516lb ft) of torque and this is mated to a new Quickshift transmission which enables double downshifts. Thanks to advanced FlexFuel technology it can also run on both standard unleaded petrol (gasoline) and sustainable bioethanol (up to E85) or any mix of the two.
In late 2011 an all-new, high-output 8-cylinder engine will also be available to order. This advanced power unit will deliver a 40 percent reduction in emissions compared with the W12 engine and will offer a class-leading CO2 emissions-to-power ratio with Bentley levels of performance and refinement.
Both engines are coupled to an all-wheel drive system with a sporty 40:60 rear-torque bias (compared with the 50:50 bias of the original Continental GT), minimising understeer during hard cornering and allowing the experienced driver to control the car’s line and balance via precise throttle control.
“The new Continental GT is an automotive work of art, with superb craftsmanship and elegant, contemporary design. It drives like a supercar, but without the usual sacrifices in ride or practicality. It is a car that you can enjoy every moment of every day.”
Dr Franz-Josef Paefgen, Chairman and Chief Executive

SCULPTURED EXTERIOR EXUDES QUALITY AND DESIGN INTEGRITY
Inspired by the iconic Bentleys of the past, Bentley’s design team under the leadership of Director of Design, Dirk van Braeckel, has created a thoroughly modern, sculptured body, built with advanced production technologies to ensure the highest standards of quality and body integrity.
Aluminium Super Forming technology is employed to create the front wings and the boot lid. This process heats the aluminium panels to nearly 500 degrees Celsius before shaping them by air pressure. By using a single sheet of aluminium, no seams or welding are required.
The latest body construction techniques deliver crisp, highly defined feature lines and form to every area of the exterior design. The familiar power lines and rear haunches – echoes of the original 1950s R-Type Continental – now have even sharper radii to create highly distinct surfaces, bringing the feel of a truly coachbuilt car to the new coupe.
The GT coupe’s new look is bolder than ever. The classic Bentley matrix radiator grille is more upright, while the new headlamp design, in traditional four-lamp format, has exquisite jewel-like detailing including eye-catching, LED daylight-running lamps.
At the rear, Bentley signature ‘floating’ LED lamps extend around the corners of the wings, emphasising the new coupe’s width and purposeful stance. The track is wider by 41mm at the front and 48mm at the rear than the previous model. The bootlid design has a powerful ‘double horse-shoe’ motif, reminiscent of the new Bentley Mulsanne, while flared elliptical exhaust tailpipes reinforce the new GT’s sporting credentials.
The shape of the new GT coupe’s body is also more aerodynamic following extensive wind tunnel analysis. In conjunction with a range of extensive underbody refinements (including wheel arch and exhaust aerodynamic aids) the GT’s coefficient of drag has been reduced to 0.33Cd and the lift at the front and rear axles has also been reduced to create greater stability at higher speeds.
The new GT is specified with 20-inch alloy wheels as standard, with, for the first time on the Continental family, the option to upgrade to 21-inch designs. Three styles of wheel are offered – a 20-inch five-spoke version and two 21-inch Elegant and split-rim Sports variations, which come in a variety of chromed and painted finishes.
“The new GT coupe has an even stronger sporting character than ever before. It is an exceptionally refined and comfortable 2+2 Grand Tourer but with the heart, soul and looks of a supercar.”
Dirk van Braeckel, Director of Design
CONTEMPORARY, HAND-CRAFTED CABIN WITH BENTLEY’S RENOWNED REFINEMENT
With an entirely hand-crafted interior, the Continental GT’s cabin sets new standards in refinement and luxury to create a stylish space in which up to four people can relax in total comfort.
The instrument panel and dashboard subtly echo the flying wings of the Bentley motif and are fashioned from the highest quality soft-touch leathers. New touchscreen technology and chrome-bezelled dials are housed within this dynamic cockpit area, which rises from the centre console in the form of dramatically surfaced ’wing’ buttresses.
The striking and unique ‘Cobra’ design seats are supremely comfortable thanks to the introduction of the latest body-supporting materials which use complex foams to provide softness at first touch but with excellent support over longer journeys.
The seats can be specified with front-seat ventilation as well as a state-of-the-art massage system with 10 individual massage cells and individual side airbags are provided as standard for all passengers. Front seatbelts feature a new electrically-operated automatic presenter, making buckling-up effortless. Driver knee airbags are standard fitment.
The new Continental GT offers superb everyday usability. The new slim-line front seats with scalloped backs also provide a further 46mm of legroom for back-seat passengers and easy access to the rear cabin.
No other Grand Tourer offers such impressive levels of refinement thanks to the advanced noise-suppression technology that includes acoustic glazing, under-floor shields and hidden anti-vibration panels throughout the interior.
The cabin is trimmed with soft-touch leathers, a full range of wood veneers, cool-touch metals and deep-pile carpets – all hand-crafted in Bentley’s unrivalled workshops at the factory in Crewe, England. The attention to detail even extends to applying a UV stabilizer to the wood veneers to protect from bleaching, thus ensuring they can be enjoyed as new for decades to come.
Every leather hide is still sewn under the watchful eye of Bentley’s highly skilled craftsmen and women. By incorporating ingenious, angled ‘ramps’ behind the leather, the interior designers have created sharp, well-defined styling lines, while maintaining a soft-touch.
Other simple yet practical functions include a powered boot as standard, Electronic Park Brake with Move Off Assist and newly designed, leather-lined door stowage bins with an integrated bottle holder.
Perhaps the most stylish new storage device in the new Continental GT is the exquisitely designed, folding, removable case designed to hold items such as keys and pens and which can also be slipped into a pocket or bag. Crafted from veneers to match those of the coupe’s interior, the case (available as a cost option) is finished with inlaid Bentley wings, satin-chromed and leather-lined, and is secured in a recess above the twin drinks holders in the centre console.
“The new GT coupe interior combines form, practicality and innovation. Our task was to translate the original design sketches for the car’s cabin – which were quite extreme, almost revolutionary for a Bentley – into the final design. The result is a cockpit that moves the Continental GT on to the next generation.”
Darren Day, Senior Designer
CLASS-LEADING INFOTAINMENT SYSTEMS
Complementing its contemporary cabin, the new Continental GT also features advanced new touchscreen technology with rich map imagery and a 30GB on board hard drive.
The 8-inch screen displays the car’s audio system, telephone, ride and comfort settings and the very latest navigation system, which uses both an in-car hard-disc drive and a DVD player to access route data. It also employs dynamic navigation to guide you around areas of heavy traffic, finds destinations using geo-tagged photos from an SD memory card and is Google Maps-compatible (market specific).
The infotainment system, with 7 digit postcode entry, uses a combination of touchscreen controls and classic knurled rotary switches to offer instant usability and crystal-clear feedback. The graphic interface of the screen is engineered in-house to ensure its visuals are completely in keeping with the style of the interior. Look closely and you will see that the knurled switches on the screen are ‘virtual’ echoes of the knurled switches below.
The Continental GT’s new infotainment system also provides the ultimate in in-car audio entertainment. An eight-speaker sound system is offered as standard employing the latest Balanced Mode Radiator technology. These unique compact, flat-panel speakers provide exceptional clarity with a very wide frequency range.
An 11-speaker Naim for Bentley system – created exclusively for the Continental GT by British audiophiles Naim – employs revolutionary Dirac Dimensions ™ digital signal processing. This industry-first technology creates a virtual ‘sound field’ independent of speaker layout to deliver concert hall-quality sound reproduction for every occupant wherever they may be sitting.
The GT coupe also benefits from telephone and music player connectivity, digital television (where available) and DVD movie playback. Music can be played and controlled directly from an iPod® as well as from a six-disc CD changer, SD card reader or directly from the car’s hard-disc drive, which can store up to 15GB of music.
MORE POWERFUL W12 AND NEW HIGH-OUTPUT, HIGH-EFFICIENCY V8
The Continental GT is set to have a choice of two very distinctive high-performance engines. In addition to the new 575PS version of Crewe’s renowned 6.0 litre W12 powertrain, a new high-output 4.0-litre V8 engine option will be introduced in late 2011.
The new 4.0-litre V8 engine honours Bentley’s environmental commitment to deliver a powertrain that achieves a 40 percent improvement in CO2 emissions. The new V8 is being designed specifically by Bentley’s engineers to deliver all the exhilarating power and torque synonymous with the marque. The new Crewe-built engine will also offer a class-leading CO2 emissions-to-power ratio.
At launch, the new Continental GT coupe is powered by the latest evolution of Bentley’s acclaimed 12-cylinder, 6-litre twin-turbocharged engine, now calibrated to provide even greater performance, thanks to increases in power, torque and fuel efficiency.
Designed in a unique ‘W’ configuration, it is the most compact and technologically advanced 12-cylinder engine in the world. Four camshafts and 48 valves allow the engine to breathe effortlessly and help to generate the distinctive Bentley wave of torque. It is also capable of running on petrol (gasoline), E85 bioethanol or any mix of the two – all from a single tank.
In 2008, Bentley announced a far-reaching environmental programme that included a 15 percent improvement in powertrain efficiency and the adoption across the Bentley model range of FlexFuel technology by 2012. Bentley’s FlexFuel models are capable of delivering potential CO2 reductions of up to 70 percent on a ‘well-to-wheel’ basis – the measurement of CO2 released by a fuel from its production (well) through to its combustion or deployment (wheel).
To ensure that the power and torque generated remain constant (whatever the fuel) an advanced Fuel Quality Sensor continuously monitors the ratio of the fuels used. It then guides the Engine Control Unit to adjust the engine’s timing. This provides the seamless power delivery for which Bentley engines are renowned, and ensures there is no compromise on performance when using fuels that create lower CO2 emissions.
Further revisions to the new GT coupe’s engine include low friction, lightweight components which allow the W12-format engine to rev even more freely, while the latest engine management system and twin, low-inertia turbochargers are optimised to ensure minimal turbo lag.
Overall, the GT coupe is 65kg lighter than its predecessor thanks to reductions in all areas of the car from engine components through to new seats. With its power output raised by 15PS and torque by 50 Nm - to 575PS (567bhp/423kW) and 700Nm (516lb ft) – the result is a 6 percent improvement in the new GT’s power-to weight-ratio, making it capable of accelerating from zero to 60mph in just 4.4 seconds (0-100km/h in 4.6 seconds) with a top speed of 198mph (318km/h).
The increased power and torque are transmitted to the all-wheel drive system via an uprated six-speed Quickshift transmission, which halves shift times (to just 200 milliseconds). The revised gearbox also has the ability to deliver double downshifts (sixth to fourth gear, for example) and improves acceleration across the entire gear range. To cope with the additional power and torque, the planetary gear set of the six-speed ZF transmission is also strengthened.
Positive torque during downshifts is achieved through engine and gearbox electronic controller interaction for extra throttle and fuel injection during the overrun, replicating manual throttle ‘blips’ for precise rev matching . During transmission upshifts, fuel and ignition are cut momentarily to give faster mechanical shift times through torque reduction, also improving shift quality and durability.
“The W12’s extra power and torque and Quickshift transmission endow the new GT with instantly accessible supercar performance across the complete rev range. At the same time, Bentley’s pioneering use of FlexFuel technology underlines our ongoing environmental commitment.”

*coughs* Test Drive *coughs* Sorry, I had something in my throat. But the slight boxiness of the rear exterior bothers me. It reminds me of the Arnage and the Azure, and I wasn't in love with those. I'm not a boxy girl, I'm sleek, and like curves in my car.
See what I mean.

Ridin Music: In Honor of September 11th 2001
Sep 11, 2010
Trivia: What person released an album on September 11th 2001, the same day as his (and my) hometown was under attack, and still sold almost 500,000 copies in it’s opening week?
(Album cover by Jonathan Mannion)
The answer is Jay-Z and the album was the Blueprint.
Originally the album was set to be released a week later, but because of bootleggers, he pushed the album up a week. The advanced bootlegged copy literally had almost the same track selection, but don’t ask me how I know that or how I got my hands on it. Little did he, or the Metro New York City area what was gonna happen that Tuesday morning.
To be honest, and I know people will get mad about my saying this, but not everyone can release a Blueprint album. This album was written in two days, cut in two weeks, the date was pushed up a week, on the release date, the artist hometown was attacked, the same album goes 2x platinum, gets a XXL rating, AND a 5 Mic rating. You can hate, but real recognizes real. Most rappers can have a year to compose an album and it won’t have a fifth of the success that The Blueprint has had.
13 tracks, with two hidden bonus tracks, this album was no Reasonable Doubt, but it sure came close. My top three would have to be Takeover, U Don’t Know, and my top pick is Renegade. Living in New York during that Takeover vs. Ether vs. Super Ugly battle is very unforgettable, especially on the Angie Martinez show, she was taking polls of “who won the battle”.
I know I just said it, but Renegade, featuring Enimem is my top pick. The chorus: “Never been afraid to say what’s on my mind at any given time or day” is something that I adopted and applied to my everyday life. Feelings may get hurt, but don’t be mad if I’m honest with you. And I have hurt some folks’ feelings.
Two Parts have followed the Original Blueprint. One was Blueprint 2, which shouldn't have been a double disc album (Sorry Hov), and he's thankfully made up for the lackluster Blueprint 2 with The Blueprint 3.
My copy of the Blueprint is resting comfortably in my Envoy. I wonder if my sister still has the bootlegged copy of the Blueprint. She should be ashamed of herself. Oh well, I bought mine.

Upcoming Car Show: 2010 NOPI/HIN Show, Sin City!!!
Sep 10, 2010
Vegas!!!! The second to the final stop is rolling through to Sin City. I know those who live there don't gamble, so on September 18-19 NOPI/HIN will be at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, which is actually in Las Vegas. It's only 20 minutes north off of I-15...
If you do want to save a little cash, click on the banner, order the tickets online, and type " BERNIENOPI " into the Promo Code area.
Why do I picture Holly Madison being there? I still love Girls Next Door, but with the original girls.
Chevrolet Aveo's New Hatchback Style...
Aveo is one of four Chevrolet world premieres at the Paris Motor Show
Dynamic design stays true to Aveo RS show car
European engine lineup includes 1.3-lliter diesel engine and 6-speed transmissions
There is no shortage of world firsts for Chevrolet at the forthcoming Paris Motor Show, and joining the Orlando MPV and Cruze hatchback show car will be the all-new Chevrolet Aveo 5-door.
The car will go on sale in the United States and Canada in 2011.
The Aveo RS show car was displayed at the Detroit and Geneva motor shows earlier in 2010, and the final production-ready car looks every bit as compelling as the show car.
Entering the highly competitive global small car segment, striking design elements of the new Chevrolet Aveo include the dynamic looking front with its exposed twin-headlamps and Chevrolet’s signature dual port grille, compact taut body panels with a rising shoulder line and short rear overhangs, rear door handles “hidden’ in the c-pillar and a 'body in, wheels out' profile.
Reminiscent of the recently introduced Spark in Europe, the new Aveo is designed to appeal to younger customers with its sporty hot-hatch look. A four-door sedan variant will launch in Europe alongside the hatch next summer. Both hatch and sedan are practical small cars providing ample interior space.
Final specifications of the new Aveo will be carefully tailored to each market in which it’s offered.
Wayne Brannon, president and managing director of Chevrolet Europe says: "It's just such an exciting time to be at Chevrolet; in Aveo we have a car which is ready to compete against the best in the small-car segment."
The new Aveo is longer and wider than the current model, giving it a spacious interior and cargo volume that is among best in class. The interior design perhaps holds even more surprises than the outside, in particular the motorcycle-inspired instrument cluster which features an analog tachometer combined with a digital speedometer.
Blue backlighting is featured on the center console, while the whole of the front cabin is enveloped in a wraparound fascia. This can be color-coded and flows from the dash into both the driver's and front passenger’s doors. Aveo’s interior provides consumers with high quality materials as well as multiple storage spaces in the center stack and a modern audio system with USB, auxiliary-in and Bluetooth functionality.
Reflecting its sporty personality, Aveo has been engineered to provide communicative handling, a characteristic which stems partly from its tight body frame integral (BFI) structure where highest levels of torsional rigidity have been achieved.
The new Aveo's chassis has been fine tuned to satisfy discerning tastes with a ride and handling ratio that combines comfort with responsiveness. Electronic power steering (EPS), Electronic stability control (ESC) and ABS brakes will be standard.
In Europe, a comprehensive range of four-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines will be available in the new Chevrolet Aveo, incorporating the latest technologies such as variable valve timing, double continuous variable cam phasing and common rail fuel injection for the diesels.
The gasoline engine range includes two 1.2 liter versions (at 70 hp and at 86hp), a 1.4 liter unit (100 hp) and a 1.6 liter (115hp). For the first time, Aveo will be offered with two versions of a 1.3 liter diesel engine (at 75 hp and at 95 hp) featuring Start/Stop technology. (major side eye to the amount of horsepower)
Chevrolet's first 6-speed automatic transmission on a small car will be featured on the Aveo 1.4 and 1.6 as an option in most European markets; manual transmissions are of 5 or 6 speed depending on engine choice.
P.S. I'm waiting to see a fully customized Chevy Aveo... Somebody??? Anybody???
Recapping the GA Toyz Labor Day Car Show
Sep 9, 2010
This post is a little late cause when I was suppose to write it, I was a little heated and it wouldn't have been the best move for me to write.
On Saturday, I went out to the GA Toyz Labor Day Car Show, and unlike that crappy show in Madison, I was quite pleased. First of all, the turn out was great. A lot of cars, trucks, 3 wheelers, etc, some more customized than others. Some of the guys that I ran into happened to go to the Madison show, and they all said the same statement "this is a lot better than Madison".
I ran into some past favorites which are guys that I previously interviewed on here. Here's some photos...
(Jay was hustling Takers posters)
(Wheels cost more than the car, just sayin...)
(Which was pulling...)
(The owner kept bragging about how he was from Jersey, and how I should get a photo of the NJ Devils logo)
(So Keavis got rid of his old trunk lights and replaced them with the one that you see. I liked the old ones better, it had a Vegas vibe to it...)
(DJ D-Rex decided to play Justin Beiber since there were some kids standing on the flatbed of a pickup truck. When he turned Justin on, that was it. Those kids messed up the suspension of the truck, that's how hard they were jumping up and down...)
More photos can be seen at The GA Toyz Labor Day Gallery at BeTrueATL.com
P.S. And I noticed that the on going trend when guys see me at a show, they always say "Don't talk bad about me on your site". I just call it like I see it. And that's why there wasn't anything negatively said about the GA Toyz Labor Day Car Show...
