Recapping First Thursdays at the Varsity

Sep 7, 2010

So Import Atlanta meets up every first Thursday of every month at the place that has the worst food in Atlanta (and that's because I got sick there), which is the Varsity. Everyone knows where the Varsity is as well as the Varsity has a big parking lot with several great views of the city.

This was the second time of my going to "First Thursdays" and it's kind of like a free version of NOPI that's every month. Like NOPI, First Thursdays is mostly import vehicles with some lowriders, SUVs, motorcycles, etc. And the one thing I like is that it brings a mix of people together who likes cars.

Here's some photos...

A hot stealth car!!!! I do give credit when it's due.

Under the hood is sick...
I love that shade of blue. It's pretty...

I do hate body kits, but the kit on this stealth 350Z is hot. I'm not sure if you noticed, but I do have a thing for stealth vehicles.

I would love to test drive this vehicle... and I'm being serious.

This Jetta is for sale. I'm almost tempted to call up the owner to find out how much.

I was mad that the owner of this Accord decide to bumper butt the pickup truck so that I couldn't fully see the front. Grrrrrr....

Stealth vehicle shout-out number 3!!! I like where he decided to park, the brick wall with the graffiti. I may have to do a shoot there.

This is about 60% of First Thursday.

Three reasons why I love imports:

One: There's more aftermarket parts for them than any other type of vehicle.
Two: They're the only class of car in which a body kit looks GREAT with.
Three: It reminds me of the car scene on Long Island, New York.

For a few more photos from September's First Thursday, shimmy over to First Thursdays at the Varsity Gallery at BeTrueATL.com

See you'se in October. First Thursday, not you guys. I'll see you'se tomorrow.

Exclusive Bentleys for the Middle East

Sep 6, 2010

From the House of Bentley:

Bentley Motors has unveiled two unique Continental models, which have been engineered and designed exclusively for the Middle East market. These special edition cars have been created at Bentley’s Crewe headquarters with both models offering a range of striking features specially commissioned for Arabic customers.

The Middle East market now represents 10 per cent of Bentley retail sales globally and has doubled its contribution to the worldwide percentage of sales over the last five years.

From Bentley’s first dealership in Dubai, the network has grown to become nine-strong in 2010, with dealers in Dubai, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Jeddah, Riyadh and Al Khobar. These two new models have been launched specifically for this unique market.

The Continental Flying Spur Arabia and the Continental Flying Spur Speed Arabia retain all the potent performance of the company’s Continental Flying Spur and Spur Speed, the world’s fastest luxury four-door saloon, but with a range of additional exterior and interior features to create the ultimate in distinguished, elegant driving developed for the Arabic market.

Both cars are further distinguished by some subtle exterior and interior ‘Arabia’ motifs. These include an exterior front fender badge, tread plate and ashtray lid badge – all bearing the Arabia signature.

The class-leading performance of the W12, 6-litre engine is in no way diminished. The Flying Spur Arabia is capable of achieving a potential top speed of 312 km/h and a 0-100 km/h sprint time of just 4.9 seconds. The Flying Spur Speed Arabia offers a more powerful 600 bhp (610 ps, 449 kW) version of Bentley’s highly acclaimed W12 with 553 lb-ft (750 Nm) of torque. This is a 9 per cent increase in power and 15 per cent increase in torque over its sister model, and will drive from 0-100 km/h in 4.8 seconds with a top speed of 322 km/h.

Unique wheels are also offered on both models. The Continental Flying Spur Arabia is designed with an elegant 14-spoke diamond alloy wheel, which has incredible strength through a small surface area and allows the best possible flow of air to the brake discs.

For the Continental Flying Spur Speed Arabia, vibrant and sporty, bright silver, 10-spoke, 20-inch wheels are included, and are also compatible with optional carbon ceramic brakes.

Bentley’s ability to add extra, well-executed touches of luxury can be found in the ventilated fluted seats that effectively cool and warm the body, helping driver and passengers always to stay comfortable. The craftsmanship features which are synonymous with the Bentley name also include veneered picnic tables to the rear of front seats inset with vanity mirrors, chrome inlay strips to the door waistrails and deep-pile carpet mats with hide trimming. To surprise and delight the customer, even the fuel cap has been designed with jewellery in mind and is engineered in bright chrome with the famous ‘B’ badge.

For convenience, an additional valet key is offered with limited functionality that allows the car to be driven without giving access to the boot or glove box. This provides secure storage of personal belongings when using valet parking services. (Genius)

Further options that offer the luxury and refinement to the customer include Adaptive Cruise Control with ‘follow to stop feature’, a rear-view camera, the iPod interface linked to the infotainment system and privacy phone handsets in the front and rear of the car.

Geoff Dowding, Regional Director, Asia and Middle East, comments:

“We have created these exclusive new models for our Arabic customers in recognition of the growing importance of these influential customers. Bentley has a long and proud tradition of being able to design, engineer and personalise our cars to the individual styling and driving tastes of our customers and these special-edition Bentleys showcase these skills for the Middle East Market”.

I'm wondering who will be the first person to buy it and send it over to the United States???

Yeeeeesssssss..... Bentley Redesigns The Continental GT

Sep 3, 2010

Great News out of the House of Bentley

Hot photo I borrow off of the Bentley Blog. Kudos.

Bentley will reveal its new and compelling vision of the Continental GT next month with a unique internet reveal. The studio lights are switched-on and the cameras will start rolling at 3:00 p.m. (British time) on Tuesday September 7th.

This is the Black Edition, but still....

The week-long public reveal (available both day and night) will be hosted at www.ContinentalGT.com with the opportunity for viewers to enjoy the drama of a formal motor show ‘unveil’ as well as taking several bespoke and virtual tours of the Continental GT by selecting a range of camera angles and distances which are all designed to showcase the Continental’s new sculpted, athletic body and powerful styling lines.

The designer behind the styling of the first, groundbreaking Continental GT coupe in 2003 and Bentley’s Design Director Dirk van Braeckel, said:

“In 2003 we designed a car like no other – a striking, luxury GT coupe combining the craftsmanship and refinement Bentley is renowned for with a purposeful, sporting road presence. Now we’ve taken the opportunity to write a new chapter for the Continental.

The styling and design story in 2010 is just as dramatic and we believe this Bentley GT will be as instantly recognisable as its predecessor. We look forward to the moment the cameras are switched on and sharing the new Continental GT with enthusiasts across the world.”

Still the Black Edition, but you know...

Launched in 2003 the first Continental helped to spearhead Bentley’s renaissance by offering an entirely new driving experience; it was a high-luxury 2+2 GT coupe also delivering remarkable levels of everyday usability and the stirring performance (courtesy of a hugely powerful 6 litre W12 engine offering 552bhp) associated with the Bentley marque.

Over 22,000 Continental GT models have been delivered to customers since 2003 and the strength of the original engineering and design proposition inspired Bentley to create a 600bhp GT Speed stablemate, the convertible Continental GTC as well as the recently launched Supersports – a muscular 204mph supercar.

Now here's the most important question: WHEN DOES IT HIT THE UNITED STATES???

Thank you Bentley.

Recapping the Only Annual Peach Fest...

Sep 1, 2010

There were so many things wrong with this show and everyone who attended it knows it, even down to Gorilla Zoe. Even he asked me "how did you know about this bulls***?" (And those are Alonzo's exact words)

Throughout the day, there were a series of unnecessary problems. you would think that if you're planning an event, you would recognize a potential problem and know how to solve it. I see they learned how to plan their show from the King of the Streets people.

Most of the people were turned off by the problems and the attitudes of the "promoters" and turned the Walmart parking lot across the street into a car show, until Madison 5-0 shut that down.

Here's some photos from the show

Southern thing...

No offense to the owner but after seeing the Challenger that belongs to Doc (at Grand Hustle) and the Challenger that T.I. once owned, it's almost pointless to see another one because nothing can compare. And I'm not being biased even though Doc has the LOUD Orange one, and if you don't believe me, here's Doc's Challenger

I'm not a pink girl, but I do like this shade on this car...

This'll make Camaro357 happy....

He's actually going to be a future post because the way he trains dogs is bananas....

Even Zoe saw that 90% of the show was across the street and he walked over and spent more time playing with the dogs than being on stage. Can't hate on him, he got his money.

Told you...

The silver lining that I'm speaking about is that I got to meet a lot of car enthusiasts from GA Toyz and Stuntworld and guys who aren't associated with the two. Plus I got to see Alonzo again, even though I do get to see him often in Atlanta.

P.S. If there's a second annual one, I will be the first one who would be surprised. Oh and...

Gotta love those GA Toyz guys....

Cadillac is looking out for their owners....

Aug 31, 2010

John Capp, director for Global Active Safety at Cadillac, says future Cadillac technologies could include in-vehicle Doppler radar to spot obstructions or traffic jams ahead. Looking even further out, Capp sees autonomous vehicles that can communicate with each other, traffic signals and buildings, pointing to a world where cars may actually drive themselves.

"We see things moving toward a point in the future where perhaps vehicles won't crash," said Capp. "We work on developing advanced safety technologies for Cadillac that alert drivers to potential dangers around them."

Cadillac is already evolving its technology to come closer to the vision of a crash-proof car. Capp and his team of engineers, inventors and futurists have developed life-saving active safety technologies that are already in place on the 2010 Cadillac STS Platinum, including:

Lane departure warning – a camera-based lane detection system that warns the driver when he or she leaves their lane without signaling. The camera, mounted near the inside rearview mirror, identifies traffic lane markings and provides audible alerts.

Blind spot alert – twin radar beacons that detect an object in a vehicle's blind zone and provide a visual warning in the outside side mirror.

Adaptive cruise control – sensors detect objects in a vehicle's path and slow the vehicle down to avoid a collision.

"We're evolving those technologies to develop the capability where vehicles will be able to avoid crashes,” Capp said.

Let's watch, shall we...

Either way, if they need a test city to host this in, might I suggest Atlanta, to help these people who can not drive. That way it'll cut down on the Atlanta traffic that originates in Cobb and Gwinnett Counties.
