Rockford Fosgate New Class D Amplifiers Are Available Nationwide
Oct 18, 2011
Rockford Fosgate, the industry leader in high-performance car audio systems, announced that its new line of Punch Full Range Class D and Mono Class D amplifiers are starting to hit retailers nationwide. The new line of Punch Amplifiers will be available in 1,000 watt mono (P1000X1D), 500 or 1,000 watt 4 channel (P500X4D or P1000X4D) and 1,000 watt multi channel (P1000X5D) configurations. The amplifiers will carry an MSRP beginning at $579.99 to $799.99, depending on product features.
“We build products that fit into every audiophile’s lifestyle,” commented Theresa Hephner, senior director, product development and marketing. “Our new line of Class D amplifiers is engineered to deliver a cleaner, crisper audio experience at virtually any listening level. Our P1000X1D and P500X4D Punch models are hitting stores just in time for the holidays and would make a great gift for enthusiasts looking to improve their factory-installed audio system.”
Rockford Fosgate’s new Punch Full Range Class D / Mono Class D amplifiers use a high-efficiency amplifier design for reduced current consumption from the charging system. This design enables the amplifiers to be used in all vehicles, including those where space is limited. The amplifiers’ top mount controls makes set-up easy and installation more flexible. In addition, the Rockford Punch amplifiers perform at low impedances, which mean they can be used with a variety of speaker and subwoofer configurations.
Rockford Fosgate’s P1000X1D and P500X4D are currently available in retailers nationwide. The P1000X4D and P1000X5D models are expected to hit stores in Q1 2012. The new Class D amplifiers are the perfect complement to Rockford’s current PUNCH family of audio products, which include a complete mix of full-range speakers with P1 coaxials and components, as well as various subwoofer solutions such as the P1, P2, P3 and P3 shallow.
“Above all, our new Class D Punch amplifiers stick to the characteristics of the Rockford Fosgate brand, which means a lot to our customers,” added Hephner. “They not only take installation convenience to a new level, but deliver an incredible listening experience. Enthusiasts are going to be blown away by the performance they can push out of these Punch amps.”

Rockford Corporation Announces New Patent For Constant Power Technology
Sep 5, 2011
Rockford Corporation recently received patent 7,994,857, issued by the United States Patent and Trademark Office on Aug. 9, 2011. Invented by Rockford Engineers Mark Albers, James Strickland and David Baker, the “Dynamic Constant Power Amplifier” patent allows Rockford to create amplifiers that deliver maximum power for a range of speaker impedances.
“Rockford’s ‘Dynamic Constant Power Amplifier’ patent once again shows we’re at the forefront of the car audio industry,” noted Bill Jackson, president of Rockford Corporation. “Our new patent enables us to build a high-efficiency audio amplifier that automatically delivers maximum rated power into a wide range of speaker impedances. This technology solves an age-old problem that has persisted since the earliest days of audio: how to match a speaker to an amplifier and be assured you’re getting maximum power delivery.”
Through the use of proprietary electronics, Rockford’s Constant Power technology automatically eliminates the inflexible speaker impedance-matching requirements of existing amplifier technology.
“There are no knobs to adjust, switches to set, calibration processes, test signals or additional wire harnesses of any kind,” explained Jake Braaten, director of product development at Rockford Fosgate. “The speakers are connected to the amplifier as normal, and as the music plays, the patented Constant Power circuitry automatically adapts to the wide range of nominal and frequency-dependent impedances. Any type of speaker may be used.”
For example, Rockford’s T1000-4ad four-channel amplifier automatically delivers 250W per channel to speakers with an impedance between 1 ohm to 4 ohms, when the audio signal demands it.
A similarly rated conventional amplifier typically only achieves 250W when a 1 ohm speaker is used. They are also known to deliver much less power at higher impedances.
“Mobile audio enthusiasts often go through the time and expense of installing powerful amplifiers and speakers in their cars to make it louder,” added Theresa Hephner, senior director of product development and marketing for Rockford Corporation. “To these high decibel fanatics, the perceived value of an amplifier is almost directly related to how much power it can deliver to the speaker. In this respect, the introduction of our ‘Constant Power’ amplifiers gives our dealers, install technicians and customers unprecedented convenience, value and performance.”
Rockford Fosgate Announces Availability of the New Prime Class D Amplifiers
Aug 30, 2011
Rockford Fosgate, the industry leader in high-performance car audio systems, is now shipping its new line of Prime amplifiers. The four amplifiers include two Full Range Class D models (R400-4D, R600-4D) and two Class D subwoofer amplifiers (R750-1D and R1200-1D), starting from $289.99.
“Our new line of Class D amplifiers offer a variety of options for buyers,” noted Bill Jackson, president of Rockford Corporation. “We’ve packed these four new Class D amplifiers with incredible technology not typically seen at this price point. We’re confident that when people get a taste of how small and efficient these new Prime series amps are, they’ll never want to listen to their factory system again.”
Rockford’s Prime FRD amplifiers utilize a high efficiency Class D amplifier design for reduced current consumption from the charging system and improved power density. These new amplifiers feature onboard variable Punch EQ with optional wired level control and integrated top-mount controls. The Prime Full Range Class D amplifiers offer flexible applications for every audio system with models ranging from 400-1200 watts of power output and 2 ohm stereo or 1 ohm mono low impedance stability.
“The technology we’ve engineered into the new full range and mono Class-D amplifiers allow them to be much smaller and generate less heat,” explained Jake Braaten, director of product development at Rockford Fosgate. “Each offers elements of performance that are designed to exceed everyone’s expectation.”
New Prime series amplifier models include:

Rockford Repositions Lighting Audio Product Line and Distribution Channels To Help Independent Retailers
Aug 23, 2011
Rockford Corporation has repositioned its Lightning Audio product line and distribution channels to support independent 12 volt specialist retailers. Lightning Audio has shifted its focus from mass retail chains to the independent retailers, eliminated MSRP’s and prohibited internet sales of any kind, to help dealers improve their profitability and differentiate their product lines.
To give dealers an opportunity to achieve solid margins, each Lightning Audio product was designed with an “enhanced” feature and performance set. Features like dual spiders and vortex cones on woofers, die-cast frames on the co-axial speakers and one-band parametric EQs on the class D mono-block amplifiers will allow for both enhanced performance and higher customer perceived product value. The Lightning Audio product line includes subwoofers, speakers and amplifiers, starting at $49.95.
“Smaller volumes and increased pressure on margins have made it difficult for 12-volt dealers to succeed today,” explained Al Congdon, director of Lightning Audio. “This program is intended to help our dealers with Lightning Audio products that deliver Lightning’s unique combination of power and features at a reasonable price.”
