Bernie's Picks from the Barrett Jackson Scottsdale Auction

Jan 7, 2013

Nothing says Happy New Year like the Barrett Jackson Auction in their home city of Scottsdale. The Scottsdale auction always has the best cars for auction, the biggest selection, AND it's a much longer auction- it goes on for 8 days. I love picking the cars that I like the most.... and ones in which you would get the best bang for your buck. So here it goes... Oh and all of these vehicles are available with no reserve.

We're kicking this off on a high note. You're looking at a 2012 Shelby GT500 50th anniversary Super Snake located at lot number 1321. Black and Gold Exterior, black interior with a 5.4 L V8 engine.  Comes with a long list of extras including the 50th anniversary custom car cover and museum delivery package.

Located at lot number 1248 is a 2005 Bentley Continental GT. Exterior is a gorgeous neptune blue, with a cognac interior (I would have preferred black interior). 6.0L V12 engine and 552 horsepower. Less than 22,000 miles...

Located at lot number 337 is a rustic 1949 Chevy 3100 custom pickup truck. Turquoise and rust exterior and a black interior. 327 engine size. This would look great in the desert, not in the city.

Sitting at lot number 401 is a 1972 Chevy Chevelle Custom 2 door hardtop. The exterior is a Ultra Violet (ewww...) with a black interior. Equipped with a 454/450 horsepower big block engine. Not bad, just that exterior color...

Located at lot number 77, is a pretty 1957 Chevy Bel Air with a Canyon Coral (they should have just called it pink) exterior and a black and silver interior. It's completely restored to that classic 1950s look. Whitewalls and all...

Located at lot number 963 is a Scooby Doo recreation- 1967 Volkswagen 21 Window Custom Bus. Now, it has a Freeway Flyer transmission which allows speeds of 75 mph (hysterically laughing), Xboc, ice box, pullback convertible top, 1000 watt JVC sound system with dual amplifiers, a musical horn and more. Hey Shaggy, come get your bus back...

Lot number 955 is the temporary home for this 1959 Chevy Corvette. White exterior with a powder blue interior. It did go through restoration with the car looking original with all parts. Everything is in beautiful condition. The car was kept in an air conditioned garage.

Located at lot number 5001 is a 1955 Mercedes Benz 300SL Gullwing Coupe. Silver exterior with red interior. 3.0 L V6 engine, with a 4 speed manual transmission. This 300 SL was purchased new by Hollywood actor, Clark Gable. With the purchase of this vehicle, you get signed service orders from Clark himself. These papers are so old, that a oil change cost only $4.00... This would look great in a museum.

I know, some of my choices are interesting. Okay, so located at lot number 711 is a 1911 Buick 14B Roadster. White exterior with a green interior. Don't get caught in the rain in this... expecially because it has a 2 cylinder engine.

Shockingly the previous car wasn't the oldest one. Parked at lot number 644 is a 1906 Success Motor Buggy. This car is so old, the VIN is 182. This is truly a part of American automotive history. But I would love to drive this.

Located at lot number 458 is a 1965 Shelby Cobra Re-creation Roadster. Black exterior, black interior. Driven less than 500 miles per year. Looking good.

Located at lot number 58, is a 1968 Ford Mustang. This 'stang was restored in Wimbledon White with blue stripes and black seat interior. Along with the exterior, the engine was retored to an upgraded 351cid Cleveland engine and 4 speed transmission. The interior includes a new dash and gauge, rebuilt suspension and custom wheels.

Yes!!! Located at lot number 436 is a 2007 BMW M6 Coupe. Black on black with black, 5.0L V10 engine puts out 500 horsepower with 7 speed auto-shift transmission. But... the miles. 63,650 miles so you know this was someone's daily car. Still looks cute, but they won't be getting the MSRP for it...

I know, I know... But in case if you're interested, this 1957 BMW Isetta Convertible is located at lot number 94. This Isetta 'vert has a yellow taxi looking exterior and a tan interior. It comes with Glo cab lights, luggage and airport signage.

Resting in lot number 1392 is a 1956 Chevy Bel Air. This car may look familiar because it was featured and restored on Season 1 of Overhaulin with Chip Foose. The color and interior are both blue grey. They changed it from a four door car to a two door Speedster.

Located at lot number 102 is a 1970 Chevy Chevelle SS 396. Blue exterior, black interior. 396 big block engine that puts out 350 horsepower. But you know what, I would buy this, and then flip it in Atlanta. Cause you can buy it for a low price in AZ, and make a mint in GA.

Located at lot number 527 is a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Custom 4x4 SUV. There's a whole lot of pink going on, but this Jeep was built for Surco products for display in their 2012 SEMA Show booth... If a vehicle was customized for SEMA, then you know it's going to look great.

Located at lot number 1518 is this box. Inside of this box is a brand spankin new 2003 Harley Davidson 100th Anniversary Edition Softail Deuce. You can't beat this- it's still inside the box, never been used.

Located at lot number 3008 is a 2013 Shelby GT500 Fastback. White on white with white and 5.8L V8 engine with a 6 speed manual transmission. Oh and it has 662 horsepower with the top speed a 200 mph. Love it!!!!

Located at lot number 3012 is a 2013 Ford F-150. I know I've stated that I hated pickup trucks, and I still do, but this isn't about me. As you can tell by the photo, Galpin Auto Sports put their hands on it, adding a 40 inch lcd TV at the front of the truck bed, 21 inch flip down TVs on the sides of the bed cover, stainless steel BBQ on moving bedslide and more. Most importantly all proceeds benefit St Jude Children's Research Hospital.  You'll be the MVP at all tailgating parties with this truck.

Located at lot number 1597 is a 2010 Ford Shelby GT500. This Shelby is has a black exterior and a black and red interior with a 5.4L V8 engine. Most importantly, it gives off 750 horsepower.

Located at lot number 3019, is this 2010 Ford Mustang GT Custom Fastback. The exterior is gold, interior is black with a 4.6L V8 engine with a manual transmission. Customized by Galpin Auto Sports (even better), with a Roush body kit, Ford racing scoop and springs. Plus 20 inch wheels and Nitto Tires.

Located at lot number 1608 is a 2010 Chevy Camaro. The exterior and interior are both orange with a tinge of black. Engine size is a 6.2L V8 and a 6 speed manual. This Camaro SLP ZLS7S has less than 100 miles on it, and the SLP customizations totals to $31,000 ON TOP OF the ORIGINAL MSRP is $71,000. So this Camaro is a $100,000 car. It has 575 horses, and it's number 135 out of the 250 that were produced.

Located at lot number 129 is a 1957 Ford Thunderbird convertible. The exterior is painted tan and the interior is red. 312 engine size, 8 cylinders, and manual transmission.

And rounding out this list, at lot number 846 is a 1956 Ford Victoria 2 door hardtop. Comes with automatic transmission and 8 cylinders. And fender skirts are included with this car... Isn't this color gorgeous???

When I'm ready to get my Mustang, I might as well go to Barrett Jackson to get it.
