Bernie's Car Show Coverage: 2024 Rick Ross Car Show

Jun 17, 2024

On June 1st, 2024, I made my way to the Promise Land for the third annual Rick Ross Car Show. But oddly enough, the time leading up to the show was unnaturally quiet compared to the previous two years. No back and forth with DJs, no issues with permits, no issues with random animals showing up on neighbors' lawns, nothing. First things first, the only part of the show that I didn't particularly enjoy was the shuttle kerfuffle, but the time I got off the shuttle until the end of the show was *chef's kiss*.

So let me explain the shuttle situation. As a way to reduce traffic in the immediate area of Rick Ross' home, shuttles were provided so that ticketed people can get to the show. When I purchased my ticket back in March, I also obtained my parking pass, so I knew where to go for MONTHS (I'm stressing that because some people decided to show up to a show at 5 pm that's scheduled to end at 6 pm and now they wanted a refund due to showing up late). I showed up at 11 am since the first round of buses was going to depart at 10:45 am. When I pulled up to the Orange Lot, that line was loooooooonnnnnng. I was in line for a little under a hour, but once I made it to TSA-- I mean security-- it took me two minutes to be cleared, get my bracelet and I maneuvered my way onto the bus.

At 12:45 pm, I took my obligatory video of the Promise Land signage which means I was officially at the show. This year was my third time at the show and I was happy about the mix of vehicles that came. There were cars I've never seen before, cars that I've seen before but I didn't see them at the Promise Land (mostly Nava's Easter Show and SEMA), and then there were cars that I've previously seen at this show. In true Bernie fashion, don't expect me to show videos of Boosie, Bun B and Rick Ross on stage because I avoided that area. I spent the entire time meeting people, running into familiar faces, and most importantly, photographing some incredible cars. I didn't spend the extra money to see the cars in the VIP area, but in all fairness, I've seen four of them already (and by seen, I mean close enough to touch). The only car I missed out on was Olive Oyl but I'm sure I'll see her around somewhere.

The real shuttle kerfuffle took place when it was time to leave because the shuttle area was mobbed with people since it wasn't clearly defined which bus was for a particular parking area. By the time I was able to get on the bus, going to the Street Whipz' Block Party was nearly impossible to get into. But like I said before, the time I got off of the bus until the time I decided to leave was *chef's kiss*.

It's Times Square!!!! Named after the New York Times. That missing "S" sent me over the edge as a New Yorker.
