Top 20 Most Expensive Cars to Insure in 2014

Mar 12, 2014

If you could care less about the least expensive cars, we're now gonna talk about the more expensive cars to insure. In case you were wondering how Insure.com arrived at these numbers, keep reading.

Insure.com had the hardest task of all. What they did was compare rates for every make, model and trim level of a car from the top 6 insurance carriers- Farmers, Geico, Progressive, Nationwide, State Farm, and my personal favorite, Allstate. Exotic cars were excluded, but more than 850 vehicles were researched. The averages were based on the following: full coverage for a single, 40 year old male, that drives 12 miles to work each day with the policy limits of 100/300/50 ($100,000 for injury liability for one person, $300,000 for all injuries, and $50,000 for property damage in an accident) and a $500 deductible on collision and comprehensive coverage. This driver also has a clean record and good credit and the rate also includes uninsured motorist coverage. This sounds like the driver is from Wyoming and lives in a town that has a higher population of animals than people. If you're a female that's over a decade younger than the hypothetical driver, that drives more than 12 miles to work each day, and doesn't have a clean record- just multiply the average rate by 2. Sorry, but I learned how to drive in New York, my driving record will NEVER be clean.

Oh, and the number one car isn't from BMW, Mercedes Benz, Jaguar, Rolls Royce, Porsche, Audi, etc.

The top 10 MOST expensive cars to insure for 2013

Feb 1, 2013

Okay, before I brought you the least expensive cars to insure, but now I have the most expensive cars to insure for this year. Remember, it's based on the averages of the premiums from the Big 6 (Allstate, Farmers, GEICO, Nationwide, Progressive, and State Farm), if you're a single 40 year old male with a clean driving record, good credit, and commutes 12 miles to work every day.

10. Porsche 911 Turbo S with a premium of $2925. MSRP $160,700 MPG 15/23 5.5L V8 w/ 536 horsepower

9. Porsche 911 Turbo with a premium of $2958. MSRP $137,500 MPG 16/24 3.8L V6 w/ 500 horsepower

2. Mercedes-Benz CL65 AMG with a premium of $3330. MSRP $213,200 MPG 12/19 6.0L V12 w/621 horsepower

1. Mercedes-Benz CL600 with a premium of $3557 (but with my driving record, it'll probably be about $4500) MSRP $160,300 MPG 12/18 5.5L V12 w/ 510 horsepower

Mercedes Benz... really??? They owned this top 10 list. But that CL class... it's worth every penny.

Uh Oh! LoJack Released Their Annual List of Most Stolen Vehicles...

Apr 18, 2011

The great folks at LoJack released their second annual Vehicle Theft Recovery Report for 2010. If you compare this list with a list from the late 90's, it seems that there's something about those vehicles that make people want to go to jail for grand theft auto or to recreate the 2010 version of New Jersey Drive.

Here's the list...

10. Chevrolet Tahoe (Down 3 spots from last year)
9. Nissan Maxima (New entry)
8. Nissan Altima (Tied with last year)
7. Dodge Ram (New entry)
6. Toyota Corolla (Tied with last year)
5. Cadillac Escalade (Tied with last year)
4. Acura Integra (Tied with last year)
3. Toyota Camry (Tied with last year)
2. Honda Civic (Down one spot from last year)
1. Honda Accord (Moved up one spot from last year)

Is it me or are most of these cars built on the same platform? Number 10 and number 5 are practically the same SUV, 8 and 9, 6 and 3, and 2 and 1 are siblings to each other. Which leaves 7 and 4 which are totally different than the others.

P.S. If you own any of these vehicles, it sucks to be you.

He has a clean driving record and good credit. The rate includes uninsured motorist coverage. Also using car insurance rates from six large carriers (State Farm, Allstate, Progressive, GEICO, Farmers and Nationwide) in 10 ZIP codes per state. Which means that if I were to own one of these fine automobiles, I would have to spend twice as much living in Georgia.
