Earlier this year, Rick Ross and 57 Freddy (I'm only going by his Instagram handle since I don't know him personally) announced that they're were going to team up and hold a car show. On May 21st, they stayed true to their word and the first annual Promise Land Car Show was held without any issues. I tend to be a little judgmental about first annual car shows because it's the first show and a lot of mistakes are usually made, the turnout isn't as great as it could be, etc. But this was different...
I've been to a lot of car shows, but one thing I can say is that this is the first time I went to a car show that was held at the promoter's home. As you can guess, The Promise Land Car Show was named after the location of the show, which is Rick Ross' home, which is located right outside of Atlanta. His front yard was large enough for the entire car show, plus venders, most of general parking, and there was still room to just hang out. In this case, we weren't considered as "car show attendees", we were houseguests.@carshowbernie Rick Ross checking out this ‘75 Caprice Classic before the start of his #carshow . #donk #rickross #rickrosscarshow #capriceclassic #75caprice #carshowbernie ♬ original sound - CarShowBernie

Despite the commotion that was leading up to the show, the show was sold out within the first two hours of the gates opening. Personally, I believe that the pricing was set to ensure that there wasn't going to be any issues/drama/shoot outs, etc. (remember, this is Atlanta, and don't blame Atlanta behavior on transplants either.) and to cover landscaping/clean up costs (Do you know how many vehicles were on that grass PLUS how trashed the yard was at the end of the show? You know Rick Ross cuts his own grass, but after that show, I'm sure he skipped that week)
I can best describe this show as being a Florida Car Show in Georgia. This show actually attracted a lot of cars that I've never seen before (hence the Florida Car Show reference). Not just from Florida (but it was mostly Florida), but Georgia (not surprised because there's a lot of custom car owners that do not like to participate in shows), Texas, and several other states.... which basically means that I had no reason to complain. Also there were quite a few cars that I've seen at SEMA. I especially can't complain because the one vehicle that I've been waiting to see....
not only showed up, but won best in show- this 1957 Chevy Bel-Air named Double Trouble. I've been waiting to see Double Trouble for years because of the amount of detail that is in this car. This is what a completely customized car looks like. Everything is done, even down to the smallest of details and the parts you would think that doesn't matter (they even engraved the underbody). I was happy that they didn't set up the whole display like at Lowrider shows because I was able to get close... and not touch the car.
At the end of the day, I was surprised that the show was so great being that it was a first annual show. I loved the fact that it was at his house since everyone knows where it is, but I just hope they invest in more garbage cans for next year. Also, special thanks to Rucci Wheels for allowing me to cover this show, which is how I was able to get footage before 11 am.
Getting your car back from these yards involves paying a charge. These expenses can be reasonably costly and more often than not run from the moo $50 run to upwards of $100 to $200. It moreover depends on the number of days the Tow Truck Burnaby company has your vehicle on their premises.
