Bernie's Top 30 Picks from the Barrett Jackson: Las Vegas Auction

Sep 23, 2013

2013 was a fast moving year, especially if I'm showing off my top 30 picks from the last Barrett Jackson auction of the year. This weekend coming up (September 26-28) in Las Vegas, Nevada is the second best Barrett-Jackson auction (let's be honest, nothing can't or will ever beat the Scottsdale one). When I compose my list, it's always very random. It's cars I would love to own, mixed with cars that are so rare that they stand out, with a sprinkle of cars I can buy on the West Coast and sell in Atlanta (i.e. the Chevelles, El Caminos, Camaros, etc).

Located at Lot 15, you can find a 1950 Dodge Coronet 4 Dr Sedan. This is an excellent example of an almost completely original 1950 Coronet. The car speaks for itself. An attention grabber everywhere it goes.

Parked at Lot 16, there's a classic 1939 Jaguar SS 100 Roadster Re-creation up for grabs. This car is a real head turner and sure to be the center of attention at any car show. It is fun to drive and maintains the look of the classic Jaguar styling. Titled as a 1987 Classic Roadster.

At Lot 28, there's a 1968 Ford Mustang Custom 2 Dr Coupe. This Mustang has a 302cld V8 with an automatic transmission. It was designed to represent the Florida Gators with the number 15 which was Tim Tebow's. This car is great to drive and is very reliable.

A 1930 Ford Model A 4 Dr Sedan can be spotted at Lot 30. It is a nice original 4 dr sedan with complete older restoration. Nice driving vehicle with spoke wheels.

Located at Lot 44.1, a 1978 Volkswagen Bay Window Micro Bus is waiting to be auctioned off. It's a very rare Champagne Edition Volkswagen bus restored to original specs. Nothing overlooked in bringing this classic Champagne Edition bus back to original condition. Great running and looking piece of VW history.

Parked at Lot 58 is a 1932 Dodge Coupe. This car has seen very limited usage in recent years, only being driven in parades. Powered by the original 217.8cld fladhead 6 cylinder engine and 3-speed manual transmission, it starts and drives a good as new.

Number 7 on this list, goes to a 1956 Buick Special 2 Dr Sedan located at Lot 62.1. This is a nicely restored rare Special 2 dr sedan with factory column mounted 3-speed standard transmission.

At Lot 132, there's a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro 2SS 2 Dr Coupe up for grabs. Finished in Inferno Orange metallic over Inferno Orange interior. This one owner car comes with 4,821 actual miles. As id the Super Sport package wasn't enough power for this car, the owner went ahead and added a Procharger supercharger kit.

Parked at Lot 147, you can find a 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 2 dr Hardtop. Frame-off, rotisserie restored, LeMans Blue, 4-speed with a 12-bolt rear end. Just finished in December, 2012.

Number 13 on this list goes to a 1971 Chevrolet El Camino Pickup, found at Lot 303. This beautiful custom upgrated SS 350 with the matching numbers engine, factory air conditioning, Build Sheet and receipts since 1997.

Halfway through the list, parked on Lot 332.1, you can find a very rare 1959 Nash Metropolitan Convertible. Restored top to bottom. Runs perfect, and it's cute and beatuiful. A real head turner. Notebook detailing all work and receipts for new parts on car. No expense spared. Approximately $45,000 in detailed receipts.

1984 was a great year for this Aston Martin Lagonda Custom Sedan found in Lot 339.1. This Aston Martin Lagonda was personally owned by Evel Knievel and he had this luxury sedan heavily customized. Features a 502cld big block Chevrolet V8 and robust R700 automatic transmission. Original title signed by Evel Knievel is included. Sold on Bill of Sale only.

I'm not a huge fan of pickup trucks, however, this 1955 Chevrolet 3100 Pickup truck parked at Lot 343.1 won me over. It was recently restored with new paint, upholstery, bed wood, brightwork, engine detail, and chrome rims. It has a correct 235cid straight 6 Thriftmaster engine and manual transmission. Gorgeous truck.

At Lot 344, a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Yenko Re-creation Coupe is waiting to be auctioned off. This 96 Camaro Yenko happens to be a recreation from the 2003 film, "2 Fast 2 Furious".

Number 20 on my list is a 1961 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible at Lot 699. This very nice older frame-off restored Corvette is finished in the classic white with silver coves and stunning red interior. Period correct 283cid engine that was fitted with a correct factory fuel injection and 270hp cam.

A 2006 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 2 dr Coupe is located at Lot 745. Only 252 actual miles on this limited production Supercar. Original factory suggested retail price of $465,650. Sadly, this vehicle doesn't comply with state regulations of GA, MD, MO, VA, and WI and CANNOT be registered in those states. Note: Bernie can only have him if he's registered in NY. Guess I'm not meant to own him.

A 1952 Cadillac Custom 2 Dr Roadster is parked in Lot 765. This car has been modified front to back. Painted jet black over a full custom tan interior. This Roadster is powered by an iron block LS motor backed by an L460E overdrive transmission. All new chrome and stainless. No side windows or top.

My Honorable Mention will definitely go to what will be in Lot 812. My favorite Mercedes-Benz body of all time.... a 2006 CLS500 Brabus 4 dr Sedan. Mercedes luxury with 5.0 Liter V8 engine and smooth shifting 6-speed automatic transmission. This is a highly optioned vehicle from the factory that has been extensively upgraded with a full Brabus package. If only it was black...
