Bernie's Favorite: All About Audi: Jadakiss

And it's listed as my favorite not because of the All About Audi webseries, but because of the one who was driving the vehicle all over New York, Jadakiss.

The final installment of All About Audi was released on my birthday (January 26) starring one of my favorite, favorite industry guys, Jadakiss. If you had the pleasure of meeting him or spending time with him like I have, you'll understand why he is one of the most respected in the game. Watch the video below, and I'll give my usual criticism of the whole shebang.



To be perfectly honest with you, I only enjoyed this because of Jadakiss. Is it me or did they repeat the features of this car from previous episodes? If you're going to sell a car, there's more than just the options. Yeah the navigation where you use your finger to spell things out is interesting, but so is the horsepower, torque, top speed, 0-60, sound system, comfort of the seats, leg room, I could go on. It's like the slow-reading narrator is selling the options so you'll get the top of the line as opposed to the base model, but he's not selling Audi as a whole. Why should fans of hip-hop care about a car manufacturer that isn't popular within the hip-hop industry? That's what All About Audi was lacking. After watching all four episodes, I'm still not convinced that I would want an Audi, and I'm being real.

Jadakiss didn't play with the options, but he did say that he loves to drive and how amazing the steering wheel is (as he groped it) as well as the driving experience was so amazing that he forgot that it was raining.

I bet the narrator is cousins with the Audi salesman, that's the only reason they were able to get the clearence to do something like this.

P.S. The sound quality sucked.

"All About Audi" Starring Jadakiss, Jim Jones, and Maino

A new webseries called "All About Audi" is set to debut soon. The series is about four hip hop industry movers and shakers, ironically all of them are from New York, and they get to drive either an Audi A7 or an Audi A8 on the streets of Manhattan. Each car has a webcam or two and they let you'se know their opinion about the car.

I know I listed three out of the four people above. We have: Harlem's own Jim Jones, Brooklyn's own Maino, My Personal Favorite- Yonkers' Own Jadakiss (told you I love rappers with raspy voices), as well as DJ Bobby Trends (He's on Hot 97, and I was just as clueless as you were about him. They could have picked a more known DJ... you know, more known outside of the Tri-State area).

Great concept because you're getting to hear an opinion about the car from a regular-- well almost regular person. Meaning, you're not hearing it from a guy who has been writing for Car and Driver for 50 years. I do wish that they added a girl into the mix. Nicki Minaj is from New York, but the odds of her doing this for free are slim to none. Maybe if they did this back in '09, she would have done it.

Of course the irony in this is that Audi of West Islip is sponsoring this. You have to be from Long Island to understand what I'm talking about.

P.S. I imagine Jim Jones being the craziest driver out of the four.

Recapping Episode Eight of Funkmaster Flex's Full Throttle (with The LOX and Maybach Music Group)

Last Sunday was the season finale of Season 2: Funkmaster Flex's Full Throttle. He decided to go out with a bang by having both Maybach Music Group (Rick Ross and 'em) and my personal favorite- The LOX (Jadakiss, Styles P, and Sheek).

So Flex and Rick Ross had a bet going on that had to do with basketball. Knicks vs Heat, and of course, the Miami Heat won. The Knicks just became a decent team, but to put them up against the Heat was just stupid. To each its own, however professional basketball isn't exactly New York's strongest point. Streetball- yes. Professional Basketball- we're getting there. Flex decided to give Ross a brand new white Ford Explorer with 24 inch custom wheels, Sony sound system, Custom Interior, Baer Breaks, and a new front bumper.

Like I mentioned before, I was excited when the LOX walked into the door. I loved them since I was a little girl living on Long Island. They didn't discuss any type of cars, but I enjoyed the interview, simply because it seemed more genuine. I can't really talk about the LOX segment, because cars wasn't discussed, they came to just chill with Flex. But who doesn't enjoy Styles, Sheek, and Jadakiss.

Finally the Maybach Music Group comes in, and they discuss music first. Ricky Rozay informs everyone that they are developing their own wheel company. Flex settles up on the bet and presents Rick Ross with the customized Ford Explorer. The finished product looked good, however, Rick Ross doesn't strike me as a Ford Explorer type of person. That's like giving Lil Wayne a Dodge Durango.

I've actually been lucky enough to hang out with Jadakiss several times, and he's an interesting person. From advice to storytelling- he has a way to make you want to stop and listen.

Honestly speaking, I expected more from this series. I didn't think that this show would have been the TV version of his Hot 97 radio show, but in a way, that's what it was. It was more about who he could get to be on the show as opposed to it being about cars especially with a title like Full Throttle.

P.S. If Jadakiss comes out with his own coffee, I'm supporting it.

Car Show Coverage: 2011 Dub Car Show: New York

Dub finally added photos from their car shows onto their flickr account, and I found New York, Charlotte, Atlanta (if you want to even call that a car show), Dallas, and Memphis and I'm going to post for each city, except for Atlanta, since you already have seen my coverage.



I picked New York first because that was the show that I was confirmed to cover, but we all know the story, and I'm not about to rehash it again.

Ridin Music: Bernie's Generous With the Ridin Music... again.

So in the spirit of the Ridin Music section, I decided to be less judgmental and post ridin music of those with familiar faces. If I posted every single song that I receive, especially those who think they're talented, then this would turn into a music site, and I don't want that. It's just for those who want some new music to play in their vehicle. I'm just trying to look out for you...

First up, and do NOT judge me:

Although I was never one to listen to child singers, rappers, etc (even when they were my age. When I was Willow's age, I was listening to the Notorious B.I.G.) this song grew on me. I thought the chorus was adorable, "I whip my hair back and forth". Of course, I chose to put the remix with Nicki Minaj on here, to not ruin my street cred.



Round Two: "I Can't Help It" by T.I. feat. Rocko.



First things first, doesn't T.I.P. look adorable in this photo? I love personality shots, over the stereotypical shots of rappers where they try to look tough and they really aren't or not overly so. I'm not saying that he isn't tough, but I love the shots of him smiling like this. Oh and here's the song.



Round three: Lil' Wayne feat. Drake "Right Above It"

Is it me or Jadakiss hasn't aged a day since he recorded "You'll See" with the rest of the LOX?

Upcoming Car Show: Funkmaster Flex Car Show, RI.

Judging by the lineup, Flex is bringing New York to Rhode Island. Most importantly, he's bringing JuJu and 'Kiss. At least for next time, I know to go into the show with Jadakiss instead of obtaining my own media pass. Flex needs to fix that...


I wonder if Pauly D will be there. Isn't he from Providence???

Ridin Music: Bernie's Song Of The Moment

So DJ Khaled rounded up Snoop, Ludacris, T-Pain, and Ricky Ross for the song "All I Do Is Win". THEN, Khaled rounded up even more people for the remix... brace yourself for the list. We have Busta Rhymes, Rick Ross, Jadakiss, Puffy, Nicki Minaj, Fabolous, T-Pain, Fat Joe, and Swizz Beatz. And on top of that, Khaled decides to rap.

Of course, the remix has 10 people on it, so each person basically gets two bars on a 5 minute 20 second song. It's a little bit more than two bars, but not much more.

Ridin Music: Look What Lloyd Banks Done Started

I know the title is grammatically incorrect, but I'm rolling with it.

One third of G-Unit, Lloyd Banks, collaborated with my rapper Ray of Sunshine, Juelz Santana for the song "Beamer, Benz, and Bentley". The song took off like fire, and then a bunch of rappers had to do their take of the song.

Maino came up with "Trina, Kim, Or Nicki"



Joell Ortiz Did "Nissan Honda Chevy"


Then he REMIXES a REMIX and throws Jim Jones on the track "Nissan Honda Chevy (Remix)"



There's more remixes but do you really want to hear 500 versions of a song?

So someone mixed some of the remixes together and came up with the Hi-Def Remix which has Lloyd Banks, Joell Ortiz, Fabolous, Maino, Papoose, and Juelz Santana) (They should have named that the New York Remix)



And then Lloyd releases an actual official remix which features Ludacris, The Dream, Yo Gotti, and Jadakiss

Bernie's Feeling Generous With the Ridin Music...

It took me a minute to concoct this post cause I had to play both mixtapes in the 'Voy. I'm a firm believer of "Don't talk about stuff you know nothing about." I finally played them, and I'm gonna give reviews to two good mixtapes and which one I think is the better of the two.



So DJ Don Cannon and Young Jeezy teamed up for Trap or Die 2. It was alright, nothing to wet my pants over. The tracks Bernie liked the most would be Track 2 (Trap Or Die Reloaded), Track 4 (Insane), Track 6 (Camaro) (Note: Jeezy has a black 2010 one. Don't tell him I told you that), and my personal favorite: Track 21 (Da Greatest). I didn't include Track 7 (Lose My Mind, feat. Plies) because that song was ALREADY out, months before the mixtape came. I believe he debuted the song when he was on tour with the greatest rapper alive (Yeah, I said it, and what you gonna do about it)

Now for round 2...



So the DJ with a million nicknames (DJ Drama) teamed up with two New Yorkers: DJ Green Lantern and my favorite, Jadakiss. 'Kiss is a sweetheart, and I know he doesn't care what I think, but I'm gonna say it anyway. This mixtape "The Champ Is Here 3" edges out "Trap Or Die 2", and here's why.

Personally I think there's more songs that I like off of 'Kiss's mixtape vs. Jeezy's. Nothing personal towards Jeezy, and it's not a whole "cause 'Kiss is from NY type deal", but it's a better mixtape. It ain't the greatest mixtape, but it's better than "Trap Or Die 2" and before "The Champ Is Here 3", the last good mixtape I heard was "A Year and A Day" (What up, MLK). Plus I like it when he goes back and forth with Styles P on songs.

Two, there's been more positive reviews from other folks for "The Champ Is Here". Twitter is a powerful tool.

Bernie's personal favorite track is Track 11 "She Likes Me" which features Nicki Minaj. But Track 4 (Still Hatin), Track 15 (They Don't Know), Track 16 (Allergic To Losing) are worth paying attention to. I'm a sucker for those who can freestyle over a popular beat and not bite the flow of it, like Track 10, which is "Who Shot Ya". Many people have done freestyles over Who Shot Ya, but used Biggie's flow and changed the wording. 'Kiss didn't do that... And he didn't have Puffy in the background screaming "As we proceed..."
