Bernie's Car Show Coverage: 2022 Whip Addict Car Show

Nov 23, 2022

On October 8th, I made my return to the Home Depot Backyard in Atlanta for the Whip Addict Car Show. Aside from the show was located about 20 minutes from my house, I still have no reason to complain and here's why...

Bernie's Car Show Coverage: 2022 GA Donk and Old School Day

Nov 21, 2022

On October 2nd, I attended the Georgia Donk and Old School Day. Unfortunately I missed it last year, even though I had so much fun at the first annual one in 2020, so this year, I made sure that I attended.

On September 24th, I made the wise decision to return to Indianapolis to attend MidwestFest for the third consecutive year.

Bernie's Car Show Coverage: 2022 Atlanta Lowrider Super Show

Mid-October 2021, Atlanta based Krazy Vatos Car Club posted this video on their Instagram page stating that Lowrider history would be made in August 2022. But that's all they said...

Bernie's Car Show Coverage: 2022 STL Summer Showdown

Aug 29, 2022

Last year I was robbed of the full St Louis Summer Showdown experience, but I knew I had to come back. I stayed true to my word and on July 31st, I was back at World Wide Raceway to experience the show in its entirety.

Bernie's Car Show Coverage: 2022 Donk Day Car Show

Aug 24, 2022

On July 23rd, I traveled to Tampa for my first Donk Day car show. I was excited since this was my first donk show in Florida (Florida Classics doesn't count- cause that isn't truly a show. It's a three day hangout. It's a fun hangout, but it's still a hangout.) I thought I was going to see a lot of donks since I've seen past footage.

Bernie's Car Show Coverage: 2022 HSV Junefest

Jul 20, 2022

Originally I planned to go to Dallas for Texas Whipfest. The airlines wanted to charge more than what I was willing to spend for a two hour flight, so I had a last minute change of plans. Instead, on June 25th, I went to my first ever HSV Junefest show in Huntsville, Alabama. I've seen footage from past shows, so I had an idea of what to expect and I knew I was going to enjoy myself.

Bernie's Car Show Coverage: Street Beast VI

Jul 18, 2022

We all know I love a good car show. However, on June 19th, I attended my first actual race at Silver Dollar Raceway.  I've seen illegal street racing especially when I lived on Long Island. Stuntfest, King of the South, Texas Whipfest all have racing at the shows, but I normally avoid the racing aspect (I don't like crowds) and just stick to the car show aspect, but Street Beast VI forced me to see what racing is all about.  It took me forever to make it to Street Beast, since the original 2021 date was rescheduled to the same date as Midwest Fest (and nothing can come between me and Midwest Fest).

On June 18th, Whips By Wade held his fourth annual Certified Summer Car Show, and thankfully the weather was nice.

Bernie's Car Show Coverage: 2022 Promise Land Car Show

Jun 2, 2022

Earlier this year, Rick Ross and 57 Freddy (I'm only going by his Instagram handle since I don't know him personally) announced that they're were going to team up and hold a car show. On May 21st, they stayed true to their word and the first annual Promise Land Car Show was held without any issues. I tend to be a little judgmental about first annual car shows because it's the first show and a lot of mistakes are usually made, the turnout isn't as great as it could be, etc. But this was different...

I've been to a lot of car shows, but one thing I can say is that this is the first time I went to a car show that was held at the promoter's home. As you can guess, The Promise Land Car Show was named after the location of the show, which is Rick Ross' home, which is located right outside of Atlanta. His front yard was large enough for the entire car show, plus venders, most of general parking, and there was still room to just hang out. In this case, we weren't considered as "car show attendees", we were houseguests.

Despite the commotion that was leading up to the show, the show was sold out within the first two hours of the gates opening. Personally, I believe that the pricing was set to ensure that there wasn't going to be any issues/drama/shoot outs, etc. (remember, this is Atlanta, and don't blame Atlanta behavior on transplants either.) and to cover landscaping/clean up costs (Do you know how many vehicles were on that grass PLUS how trashed the yard was at the end of the show? You know Rick Ross cuts his own grass, but after that show, I'm sure he skipped that week)

I can best describe this show as being a Florida Car Show in Georgia. This show actually attracted a lot of cars that I've never seen before (hence the Florida Car Show reference). Not just from Florida (but it was mostly Florida), but Georgia (not surprised because there's a lot of custom car owners that do not like to participate in shows), Texas, and several other states.... which basically means that I had no reason to complain. Also there were quite a few cars that I've seen at SEMA. I especially can't complain because the one vehicle that I've been waiting to see....

not only showed up, but won best in show- this 1957 Chevy Bel-Air named Double Trouble. I've been waiting to see Double Trouble for years because of the amount of detail that is in this car. This is what a completely customized car looks like. Everything is done, even down to the smallest of details and the parts you would think that doesn't matter (they even engraved the underbody). I was happy that they didn't set up the whole display like at Lowrider shows because I was able to get close... and not touch the car.

At the end of the day, I was surprised that the show was so great being that it was a first annual show. I loved the fact that it was at his house since everyone knows where it is, but I just hope they invest in more garbage cans for next year. Also, special thanks to Rucci Wheels for allowing me to cover this show, which is how I was able to get footage before 11 am.
