Bernie's Car Show Coverage: 2014 Gumball 3000 Rally- Atlanta Stop

Jun 9, 2014

Within the 15 years of the existance of Gumball 3000, this year's rally was the first time that it stopped in Atlanta. The route was designed to start in Miami, FL and end in Ibiza, Spain. However, the Atlanta stop was one to remember... unfortunately.

The Atlanta stop was supposed to go like this- arrive at Centennial Olympic Park in downtown Atlanta around 7:00 pm. There was going to be a concert where some of the participants were slated to perform (Bun B, Xzibit, and rumor has it that Eve was going to do a surprise performance). After that, the participants were going to party at a undisclosed VIP location, then they head out the next morning to speed to New York. Around 8:00 pm, a severe thunderstorm came through downtown Atlanta, and everyone was evacuated out of the park. The cars didn't arrive until after 10 pm, so in essence, the Atlanta stop was rained out.

I'm not one to accept defeat, so I went back to Centennial Olympic Park the next morning... around 7:30 am, and was able to get the shots I wanted. A couple of the cars already left, but on the morning of June 6th 2014- it was just me, my camera, and about $75 million in cars. I. Was. In. Heaven. Enough talking... on with the pics...

This blue wrap on this Ferrari was gorgeous.

I LOVED this graffiti Berlin style wrap on this Ferrari.

The 6x6 that everyone wanted to see

There were a lot of Brits and Italians, but very few Americans. Here's one of them and I'm referring to the car, not the participants.

Yes this Fiat was apart of the rally.

Well... maybe next time Gumball 3000 will get the opportunity to experience Atlanta. To see the rest of my photos, head over to Bernie's 2014 Gumball 3000 Rally- Atlanta stop gallery.

Bernie's Car Show Coverage: 2014 New York International Auto Show

Apr 23, 2014

Last week I covered the 114th New York International Auto Show. I always love to go back home, especially if I can cover one of the world's best auto shows. In 2013, I covered the auto show, but it was the last three days so that I could go to New York's tour stop of the Dub Car Show. This year, I went as a part of media and I got to see the show before it was opened to the public. I did give a sneak peek on my instagram (@CarShowBernie), however I'm about to show my better quality photos.

The top three things everyone was looking forward to seeing at the 2014 New York International Auto Show was....

The BMW Lineup. 50th Anniversary of the Ford Mustang, and the US Debut of the Alfa Romero.

But, I'm showing off everything.

One of the vehicles Porsche brought was the 2015 Porsche Macan S, a slightly smaller answer to the Cayenne. 3.0 Liter twin turbo V6 engine with 340 horsepower/339 lb-ft of torque, top speed of 156 mph, and 0-60 mph in 5.6 seconds. MSRP: $50,000 for the base model.

This was the best passenger friendly vehicle, the Porsche Panamera S. I like that the back seat has a complete set of controls to make sure they're equally comfortable.

In case if you don't want the power of the W12 engine, Bentley brought their new Flying Spur V8 vehicle. However, the Bentley that won my heart over was...

The Bentley Continental GTC Speed with a top speed of 340 MPH.

I'm seriously going to have to get use to seeing the new body of the Cadillac Escalade. Maybe it'll grow on me, but it's going to take awhile.

I did develop a crush on the Mercedes Benz CLA-Class. The body was close to it's older sibling, the CLS-Class, but the CLA is the entry level to that class. MSRP is... $30,000, but for the one that I photographed, $32,000. The wheels in my head are turning, but I would prefer the missing performance that the CLS63 AMG provides.

My love, the Mercedes Benz CLS63 AMG.

The redesign of the Chrysler 200 was much needed and well deserved.

A car show in Manhattan will never be complete without a Bugatti. The majority of New Yorkers may not have a license, but there are quite a few that can afford the car above.

Rolls Royce brought three vehicles: A Wraith (Note: the interior was so comfortable.), the Drophead above and...

Rolls Royce introduced the Ghost II.

He's finally here, the new Alfa Romero 4C. However, it was hard for me to get in and out of gracefully.

The other vehicle that was impossible to get out of gracefully... the BMW i8. But this car was definitely the talk of New York.

And the number one vehicle that matters...

The 2015 Ford Mustang 5.0 GT.

I will add more and more photos to this post, so don't be surprised if there's another version or three. But for now, you can check out Bernie's 2014 New York International Auto Show Coverage.
