Yesterday, I composed a post about what happened to my beloved Envoy. Most of what I wrote has changed.
I received a call today from my insurance company. It was the guy who has to come out and look at the vehicle. He told me that my vehicle was in very good shape even though he's 8 (that's no surprise), and then he gave me the great news, it can be repaired after all.
They arranged to have him sent to the shop of my choice. I chose a shop outside of Atlanta, in which I have previously featured one of their employees cars on this very same site.
Stay tuned, I will be featuring his progression...
Thank you God. But that Nissan Sentra driving "I'm so stupid, I leave my magnetic key underneath my car, nobody could steal my car, and I can lie to my insurance company to get over on them" smuck is still going down... Because the fact of the matter was all of this could have easily been avoided. Lil Fly...

In Loving Memory Of....
Apr 28, 2011
First things first, I do apologize for being missing in action, but something came up, and that's the reason for this post and you know there had to be something for me to miss going to New York.
Ever since the existence of Doing Donuts With Bernie, I expressed my love of a particular vehicle... my own. I've created a blog post about him, I've mentioned him in several, several posts. And I quote from the post "I consider my 2003 GMC Envoy SLT my baby. Sounds weird, but I can trust my truck more easily than I can with most people." I bought him on the Monday that Martin Luther King Day is celebrated in 2007 from Critz GMC in Savannah, GA.
Well, on April 26th at 8:45pm, I was involved in a hit and run in midtown Atlanta. The guys driving "stolen" a 2008 Red Nissan Sentra with the license plate "Lil Fly" (registered in Fulton County in Georgia) made a left in front of me. They saw me coming, but decided to make the left anyway. I swerved as much as I could, but what I tried to do wasn't enough, and I was hit on my right front fender (sounds more minor than what it really was). The "thieves" took off as far as they could to a Rite Aid shopping center, abandoned the vehicle, leaving me on Monroe Drive in shock and anger, having my three witnesses comforting me.
My insurance company rendered my ROS (Ray of Sunshine) a total loss. If you take a look above, I lost half of my bumper, a fog light, my hood was hit, my right front fender is touching my tire, I couldn't open my passenger door all the way, my head light glass broke, my parking light glass was broken, the right chrome part of my grille is gone, my radiator was busted because it was leaking, and I'm sure there's more under the hood that suffered. I know some people were calling me that fixes cars by the tow yard. I'm a highly selective person. I don't go to people in the hood to fix cars because they may be cheap, but they won't go a good job. You'll have to go back there more times than necessary. I rather spend the money for it to be done right. But I can't spend the money to fix him, the insurance company is rendering him as done.
I labeled this post as "Stupid People" because my insurance company heard from the owner of the Sentra. She said herself, and told the owner that his story doesn't sound right. Something isn't right in his story. It's full of bull and he'll be called out on it.
But this post isn't about the ignorance of those who live in this world, it's about my loss. I didn't see getting a new vehicle in the near future. I did put that I wanted to customize my truck, I even wrote that I didn't want to trade him. He's taken me up and down the Eastern Seaboard, to Louisville, to Memphis, and most importantly, mix him with my strong will is what got me out of Savannah, GA.
All I could do was cry... I know some people say "It's just a car", but he wasn't. I loved him. Despite these high gas prices, I made sure he had gas, I kept him maintained. Just like me, he didn't look his age. He was 8, but the only way you knew that was that he had both a tape and CD player, if you looked at his high miles (He went out with almost 188,000 miles), or if you ran his VIN. I could easily fool people cause I took pride in how he looked, even if he was stock and only had window decals on him. It was me and my truck, until a few days ago. I may have walked away unscathed, but I lost a piece of me.
I'm holding back the tears as I typed this, because I hate that I had to suffered for other's ignorance. If you gonna take something from me, go for something I could care less about. I don't get attached to people or things easily, but I loved and miss my 2003 GMC Envoy.
He survived in the Bronx but it took an drunken, ignorant, Southern "I drive a Nissan Sentra" smuck to take him out of this world. And because of that smuck, I couldn't go back home (New York) and had to miss the New York Auto Show. You took my truck and you temporarily took New York away from me, as GOD as my witness, you will pay.

Best way to lower your insurance... and you'se don't have to leave home to do it
Jun 15, 2010
(Photo from http://www.nscddconline.com)Real talk, I'm gonna be honest and personal right now. And you'se might want to click on the above picture.
I bought my Envoy as a gift to myself for my 23rd birthday. I had to get a new insurance policy since all my previous cars were under my parents' policy. I'm not gonna disclose what my car payment is, but my insurance policy was MORE than my car note at $267... a month. Yes, that's $267 a month for a 23 year old female with a SUV living in Chatham County (GA), who took driver's ed.
Now let's get into what drove the price up. I got my license at the age of 18 in New York. In NY, my record was clean, but once I moved to Savannah, forget it. In 2005, I got a speeding ticket where I did 30 mph over the speeding limit. It was really 40, but I talked it down. Less than 8 weeks later, I got another one for 15 mph over the limit. Combine the two, and add a fine from an accident 2 years before and that's how I was quoted $267 through Geico.
I talked a friend of mine and he told me about how he took an online defensive driving course, and he has Geico as well. It lowered his considerably, and with his suggestion, I logged on to the same exact site, http://www.nscddconline.com, paid the $41.25 and took the test. It didn't take long, although I was a freaked out in the beginning because the first photo they showed was one of an Envoy that was in a bad car accident.
Once I completed it and got the certification in the mail, I called up good ol' Geico. Geico told me that taking the course did help my insurance rate. It went from $267 down to $137 a month.
Basically I spent $41.25, took an online course and PASSED, and saved over a $100 a month. Since then, I haven't had any speeding tickets, but I did have a little run-in with Gwinnett County 5-0, and switched over to Allstate where my insurance is down to $113 a month.
If I can take an online defensive driving course, passed, and saved money from it, anyone can. You may not have as many points as I do (does anyone have as many points as I do), but it doesn't hurt to inquire with your insurance company. Ask them if ________________ (insert insurance company here) honors National Safety Council site for Online Defensive Driving. I can tell you right now that Geico honors it.
I'm a very suspicious person, I've been swindled before, but this does work, and I do co-sign it.
Bernie's Take On Body Kits.
Apr 15, 2010
To me, I look at Body Kits like a XXL tube top. Just because they make it in your size, doesn’t mean that it’ll look good on you.
350Z with a body kit.
After going to enough car shows and reading many magazine, you know what type of vehicles look good with body kits. Small cars, such as microcars (Smart Cars), Sub Compact (Chevy Cobalt) Compact vehicles (Toyota Corolla), Mid-size (Honda Accent), Sports cars, Muscle Cars would look good with a body kit. Some luxury cars look good with a body kit- like a Mercedes CLS 500 with a subtle Lorinser body kit. Bentley Continentals with a body kit look terrible. I’m sorry, but it cheapens the vehicle. It looks horrendous. I love Bentley Continentals as much as the next person, if not more. But if the body kit was offered factory, I would never get it. I would treat it like a Chevy Aveo… and that’s bad.
Need I say more???
Need I say more???
Any SUV looks bad with a body kit. Point blank. Even an Envoy with a Body Kit, a Yukon Denali looks bad with a body kit, even a Range Rover Sport will look bad with a body kit. I’m sure that the new Nissan Juke will look bad with a body kit. I’m all for enhancing your vehicle’s appearance, I love it. But if you’re all for making your vehicle look ugly… I will let you know about it.
(I'm crying as we speak.)

P.S. Minivans and body kits are just as bad as SUVs and Body kits.

Window Tint Laws...
Apr 9, 2010
Every state has different laws, the lower the tint number, the darker the tint is. So of course, 15% is practically black. But some states are evil, yeah I said it, EVIL enough to come up with tint laws.
States like New Jersey, New Hampshire, Delaware, Rhode Island, California, New York (You’re breaking my heart), North Dakota, etc, you can have between 70% and 100% tint on your front driver’s side and passenger side windows, which is basically NOTHING.
States like Georgia, Nevada, Indiana, Florida, Connecticut, Tennessee, etc are more forgiving and allow darker tint on your front windows within the ballpark of 30%.
Of course those of a higher stature, can have every window in their vehicle with 15% tint. For example, T.I.’s blacked out Mercedes S550. Even his front windshield, is pitch black. Jealous… of the fact he can do that, not of the fact that he has a Mercedes S550.
Here’s the thing. Some people need window tint, like Bernie. I’ve had 35% tint put on Betsey (’94 Corolla) and I was stopped because of it. Savannah Police Department tried to give me a ticket because “at glance” it looked darker than 35%. I told them to pull out that machine and test it, and it came up as 35%. Needless to say, they still had the last laugh because I didn’t get a ticket because of my tint, but I got one for doing 50 in a 35.
After three years, I still didn’t get around to adding the tint to the Envoy, but I NEED to. If you understand the English language, you know the difference between need and want. Window tint has two purposes: To keep excessive sun out and to give you privacy. In my Corolla and in my Envoy, I’ve been followed... and not by cops. Guys fail to think that if you follow someone for miles, you think that you’ll get a girl’s phone number. WRONG!!! No, that makes me drive to the police station and have them deal with you. If you look hard enough, you can see through 35% tint. So for security purposes, I need some window tint… and a gun.
The things I go through…
