Cars and Coffee: The Platinum Motorsport Edition

Mar 13, 2013

Of course, this video came out when I was on hiatus, but I have to show it off. Around the US, they have the same type of event that occurs the first Sunday of every month. On that particular Sunday, people wake up super early, and meet up in a parking lot and drink coffee- BUT you have to have a great car to fully experience it. The California version, is the Irvine Cars and Coffee, and everyone's favorite brotherly duo and their friends decided to partake in it. You get to see Lambos, Rolls Royces, Audis, BMWs, even to the army green Ferrari 458 that PM customized.

P.S. Just be glad I'm not from Boston, cause I would have messed the title up. Instead of Cars and Coffee, it would be Caaahhhs and Coughee. But since I'm from LI, it's more like Cars and Coughee. But how aesthetically pleasing the end product of this video- the shots, the scoring of the music, editing, everything, that's what won me over.

Ben Baller is at it again, this time it's a Rolls Royce Ghost

Dec 3, 2012

I like this photo, I think I'll keep it as a stock photo since this will not be the last time I write about Ben Baller.

America's favorite Jeweler is back with a new toy. In the time I had this blog (less than three years) he went from the BMW 745 to having temporary custody of a Cadillac CTS-V and Escalade to then getting the Bentley Flying Spur Speed.

But he's upgraded from a Bentley to a Rolls Royce Ghost. Why didn't I write about it sooner? Because I was waiting for him to get it back from Platinum... duh. Why write about a stock car if we all know he's gonna do something to it.

Per Ben.... "a brand new 2012 Rolls Royce Ghost… all black on black on black with all the options and the panoramic roof. shit is just amazing… I don’t even miss my FS speed at all. This shit is just boss life period!"
I don’t know if I’m going to go crazy on this car, but as is, it just makes such a crazy statement. and what I love is that they changed up the key this time and it’s fucking nice!

Its about the size of a Motorola V phone and it’s heavy… made of some sort of Onyx and Crystal and has that RR bird in the front ;) and the RR logo on the back. shit is so sick! they only give you one key though… the spare is a sick key too, but looks like the new BMW 7 series key (but it’s all black which is kinda cool)

So Ben took his other new baby to Platinum Motorsports, where his good friends (the eye candy Keshishyan brothers- George and Jack) put some 24s Agetros on the Ghost. Ben wanted to keep the chrome accents to "accentuate the regal feel of a Rolls Royce." He still wants to drop it an inch or so, but he just had to drive it. The semi-end result???

The building in the background is fucking gorgeous. Very reminiscent of the Guggenheim museum. But I'm positive that Frank Lloyd Wright didn't do that building in Los Angeles.

Update: Ben Baller's New "Family" Car: A Bentley Flying Spur Speed

Jul 3, 2012

My favorite lifestyle blogger, and ironically the only one that I choose to follow, happens to go to Jeweler to the Stars, Ben Baller. I've written about him before, so on to his update.

He decided to get rid of his BMW 745, and decided on an upgrade. According to Ben, and I chose to use his words verbatium, because he's a very informative person and I like his writing style.

"I have been trying to find a 4 door everyday family car and it’s been sooo hard! I mean for months I’ve been trying to find something. the panamera is doing a light refresh with the front and rear next year…. the S class has a new body coming out in just over a year and the new 7 series drops in mid august of this year… the big body range rover gets a complete makeover next year as well…. I seriously very seriously considered even getting a fisker, but the upkeep with the battery charging and shit is too much of a hassle. I needed something quick and last month I came SUPER close in picking up a 2012 Maserati quattroporte GT-S with everything possible… but even with the light refresh in 2009, I knew others might think that was an older whip and I wasn’t crazy about it overal… then I wanted the Rapide really badly until the dealership let me hold it for 24 hours and I returned in inside 4 hours… the car drives like shit. it’s crazy stupid slow and the back seats are VERY cramped… so I was bummed because I love the way it looks and sounds, but I couldn’t be sitting in traffic knowing that I can’t whip around in a nimble way…."

So what does he do??? Glad you asked.

He bought a Bentley Flying Spur Speed. If you follow Bentley enough, that one word "Speed" makes a world of difference.

Per Ben "In 2009 they changed the front and rear bumper and upgraded the interior and motor and made the “SPEED” which is just over 600hp and fast as shit! V12 twin turbo and the interior upgrades were nice, BUT if you got the mulliner edition, then you got the perforated leather headliner and I got the NAIM sound system which is nicer than like a Bang & Olufsen system… also got the rear reclining seats…. and the best is the Mulliner brushed Aluminum dash and Mulliner sick quilted seats and doors and the rest of the wood accents are wrapped in piano black wood… and the 20″ 20 spoke “speed” wheels are a nice touch,  brand spanking new Pirelli P-Zero’s are nice too "

Based off the photos above, he chose the Charcoal Gray because they didn't have the black on black,
and he didn't want to go with white especially because his past four cars were white.

Love the air freshner

Hope he customizes it. He's thinking about doing some minor work to it after taking it to his friends at Platinum Motorsport. But until then... we'll see.

P.S. The best part about this...

Starts the car and drives off listening to Cam'ron.

Update: So the good people at Diamond Black Xteriors uploaded a video that really shows off Ben's Bentley...

General Motors' Celebrity Program with Ben Baller

Feb 3, 2012

One of the few people I follow on twitter happens to be Ben Baller. Now I know you may not know who Ben Baller is, so the next paragraph will be very helpful.

Ben Baller, LA Native, who started out as an executive in the music industry and DJ, was smart enough to get out of the industry when digital took over and records wasn't selling like they use to. His family made jewelry for decades and decades, so he made the switch- launching a family owned business called IF&Co (Internally Flawless & Co.) with clientele who are wealthy (Not rich. Major difference). In his spare time, he launched a blog (same name of his jewelry company) where he writes about what he knows best- himself, his lifestyle, and the jewelry he creates. I like IF&Co (the blog) because what he writes about is legitmate and personable. (If you're not sure about unlegit false riches- book a flight to Atlanta during the BET Hip Hop Awards or if you would rather save your money- watch one episode of the Real Housewives of Atlanta). If you're too lazy to read about Ben Baller, I'll sum it up in one statement- Ben Baller has credibility and is well connected. Useless fact- his birthday is one day after mine, which would make him a fellow Aquarius.

A few days before Christmas, Ben was honored to be a part of the Celebrity Program for General Motors- where you get a new car to drive around for a certain amount of months- you only pay for gas and tickets you may receive (Not everyone can get out of speeding tickets like Bernie). He had a choice between a 2012 Cadillac CTS-V (What Justin Bieber has) or a 2012 Corvette Z06 (which screams Midlife Crisis). Thankfully he went with the Cadillac... for now.

(Photo: IF&Co)

"I chose the CTS-V (word to Justin Bieber)
and for a week now, this shit is amazing! it’s faster than most anything on the streets and it’s really tight, doesn’t feel all soft like the normal cadillacs…. I’m really surprised, it has a tighter feel than a lexus even! really nice recaro suede and leather seats with like 16 point options! this is fully loaded…. like a $80k car. the nav is sick! the stereo slaps and this shit moves! the back seats are actually back seats, not like a 3 series or a C class…" Ben Baller

Once GM handed over the keys, Ben took it out on the open road... all the way to the Bay Area. On the way back, he realized that a Cadillac CTS-V is not a great choice for a road trip companion. Comfortable- yes. Fast- yes. Bang for your buck- yes. Great on gas- no. Anything that has 550+ horsepower would not be great on gas, especially if you have a heavy foot.

(Photo: IF&Co)

The Cadillac CTS-V didn't stay long, and Ben received a new toy from GM- a 2011 Cadillac Escalade. Although he hasn't updated his latest adventures with this truck, I'll leave you with this...
"This thing is much smoother than before. it’s really a competitor against the Range Rover now for real. I think I might wait until the new body style drops next year though if I cop a SUV…"

If Ben knows what I know, after seeing the sketches of the newer modeled Cadillac Escalade, he might want to rethink that thought. I'm pretty good at matching people with cars, and he doesn't strike me as one who would drive a Cadillac SRX that can hold seven people.

But you know what, I'm happy that General Motors picked someone with some personality- and one who writes about the live that he actually lives. I'm not mad nor jealous, but it left me inspired. That will be me one day, but with my luck, by the time I make it there, GM will stop the program.

P.S. Ben knows a thing or two about cars. What he's had in his possession is what most people won't have the opportunity to touch.
