Bernie's Top 20 Picks from 2014 Barrett Jackson: Scottsdale... Part II

Jan 17, 2014

Two days ago, I posted Part I of my Top 20 Picks from Barrett Jackson's Scottsdale auction. Well, I'm here to present part II.

I'm starting this list on a vintage exotic high note. Parked in Lot 663, there will be a 1982 Ferrari 400I 2+2 GT. Pininfarina coachwork, 4.8 Liter V12 engine, and it's one of 883 produced.

A few lots away at Lot 670, you can find a 1970 Volkswagen Bus Custom Beach Bus. 1970 Hawaiian style customized beach cruiser that is licensed for the street as well. It has custom seating for seven, full cage and custom stereo. This is a one of a kind custom bus. And yes, I would honestly drive this... in Venice, California.

Another cute car, a 1969 Goggomobil TS-250 Coupe is parked in Lot 675. 2 cylinder gasoline engine, 48 mpg, 0-60mph in 26 seconds. Amazing room for two adults and two small children. Rack and pinon steering. Fully restored. And since we're being honest, I would drive this... but not with two small kids in the car.

Located in Lot 686, you will definitely find a 2003 Nissan 350Z with the VIN of #0001, which makes it the first production 350Z made. Just over 250 actual miles, 3.5 liter V6, 260hp, 6 speed transmission, power windows, power locks, track package and much more.

Number 5 on this list is going to this 1973 Dodge Challenger that's parked in Lot 753. Laser straight bodywork and excellent Ferrari red paint. 770hp (YES!!!!) fuel injected engine, stall converter, automatic transmission and Foose wheels. From the Michael Jenkins Collection. I'm just thinking about all the trouble I would get into owning a Dodge Challenger like this one.

Up for auction in Lot 825.1 there is a rare 1998 Ferrari 355 Spider Convertible. Bianco Avus exterior with a beige leather interior. Powerful 3.5 liter mid-engine V8, 6-speed manual transmission.

Another vintage gem can be found in Lot 983, which would be a 1952 Jaguar XK 120. Matching numbers vehicle includes a Heritage Certificate of Authenticity. 6 culinder overhead cams XK engine, twin SU Carburetion, 160bhp one of the most elegant Jaguar models of all time.

A Bentley Continental GT is currently occupying Lot 1057.1. Exceptionally stunning and meticulously maintained since new off the showroom floor. Extremely rare Dark Sapphire luxury car has less than 22,700 pampered original miles. Sits on brand new upgraded 2 piece custom Asanti wheels.

Lot 1068 belongs to a 1968 Ford Shelby GT500. This GT500 KR is in beautiful shape. The color has been changed to red with racing stripes and a tan interior. Rare combination of manual 4-speed with factory air conditioning. A great driver car with a rebuilt engine that runs on unleaded gas.

Number 11 on the list goes to the cousin to the Ford Shelby, it's a 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429 Fastback parked in Lot 1077. This unrestored Boss 429 is in factory color code Raven Black with black interior matching numbers original car.

Located in Lot 1163, there is a 1980 Rolls Royce Corniche Convertible. Purchased by Dean Martin from Rolls Royce of Beverly Hills on February 11th 1981. 16,251 original miles, Georgian Silver exterior and black interior. To add to its provenance, it was owned and titled to actor Dennis Farina up until his death in 2013.

I had the pleasure of being introduced to this next vehicle at SEMA, the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Copo in Lot 3007. Serial number 1 of 69 units. One of one Silver Ice metallic satin paint finish. LS-based 350Cid racing engine featuring a 2.9 liter Whipple screw-type supercharger and Turbo 400 heavy-duty automatic racing transmission. Sold on Bill of Sale only.

In Lots 5082 and 5083, there is a 1922 Spillman Engineering Corp 40 Menagerie Carousel with an 1865 Gasparini "Gypsy Queen" Calliope/Organ. This fully functional 40 foot Menagerie carousel was the brain child of Allan Herschell. The carousel carries a collection of his favorite hand carved characters that traveled and operated around the world. Sold with this calliope that was named after its creator, Alexander Gasparini. Gypsy Queen was purchased out of Alexander's workshop in Paris, France and brought to the US by Gypsies who would pole their barges up and down canals and rivers to entertain.

Only 6 more to go, and located in Lot 1284, we have a 1957 Cadillac El Dorado Biarritz that has undergone a full restoration. 365/325hp OHV V8 and 4 speed hydramatic transmission. Beautiful leather upholstery.

There's a 2007 Ferrari F430 Spider up for auction in Lot 1309. This is a one owner F-430 with an F-1 transmission. Red piping on the seats, carbon fiber interior, matching red calipers, car is all original and fully serviced with books, flashlight, and keys. 6,500 actual miles.

Next door to the F430, there's is a 2009 Mosler Raptor GTR parked in Lot 1310. The first Raptor GTR produced by Mosler. 1,200hp and a total weight of 2,350 lbs. Finished in Lamborghini Orange with twill weave carbon fiber accents. The body is constructed of two layers of carbon fiber with Kevlar sandwiched in between.

Simon Cowell's pristine 2008 Bugatti Veyron is occupying Lot 1319.2. This Veyron has 1,300 actual miles and it was purchased new at Bugatti Beverly Hills. This is the first certified, pre-owned vehicle in the new program being offered by Bugatti.

In Lot 1327, you can expect to find a 2008 Lamborghini Murcielago LP640. Fully loaded, 6,900 original mile car. Rare pearl white with leather interior. The ultimate high performance luxury sports car.

A gorgeous 1955 Mercedes Benz 300SL Gullwing is up for auction at Lot 5044. This 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL was bought new in Southern California at Mercedes Benz of Hollywood. A three owner car and the third owner had the car from the spring of 1960 all the way until May of 2013. Titled as a 1956.

Finally, at number 20... a brand new 2015 Ford Mustang GT at Lot 3010. New sophisticated design represents the next 50 years of the Mustang. Powered by the throaty 5.0 Liter V8, the 2015 Mustang GT now features an upgraded valve train and cylinder heads that yield more than 420 horsepower and 396 ft/lbs of torque.
