20 2011 Vehicles With the Lowest Car Insurance Rates According to Insure.com

Jan 12, 2011

I always get a kick out of viewing lists like this one. Well, Insure.com based the list upon a couple of different factors: Averages are based on a single 40-year-old male driver who commutes 12 miles to work each day, with policy limits of 100/300/50 ($100,000 for injury liability for one person, $300,000 for all injuries and $50,000 for property damage in an accident) and a $500 deductible on collision and comprehensive coverage. He has a clean driving record and good credit. The rate includes uninsured motorist coverage. Also using car insurance rates from six large carriers (State Farm, Allstate, Progressive, GEICO, Farmers and Nationwide) in 10 ZIP codes per state. So New York, New Jersey, etc don't get excited over this list.

The 2011 North American International Auto Show is going on...

Jan 11, 2011

... and I'm stuck in Atlanta.

If you had a choice to go to an auto show in any city, your best bet is to suck it up and travel to Detroit for the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS). Detroit is the "motor city", so it's only fitting that their auto show would be the largest, even larger than LA and New York.

NAIAS has the most reveals and the most concept cars. I was able to find some interesting videos of some reveals. Like:

The Hyundai Curb Concept...

I thought it was cute.

Also, I've come across the 2011 Chyrsler 300 with that dreadful grill.

The 2012 Honda Civic.

What I like about the updated Civic is the rear. It's more curved, sleek.

And also the 2012 Audi A6

I know that more videos will appear in a few hours, so stay tuned.

Oh Atlanta, Snow is not your friend.

Jan 10, 2011

Last night, the metro Atlanta area got hit with some snow. Five inches to be exact. The way to tell if people know how to drive is how they react on ice. If you don't know how to drive on ice, then your vehicle will look like this Honda.

If you get into a sticky situation where you are on ice and you're losing control of your vehicle, remember to don't put your foot on the break or the gas petal and slowly, I repeat, slowly turn the vehicle towards the side of the street you are suppose to be on.

This happened to me last night, driving home from a recording studio. I was on ice, my Envoy is not an All Wheel Drive one. The ice was up the street from my house and I lost control for a few seconds, but best believe when I say that I gained it back and he's down stairs in a parking space covered in snow without any dents.

If you can remember that simple rule, you're good.

The 2011 Dub Car Show Calendar Is Out!!!!

Jan 7, 2011

I see they cut out Englishtown, NJ (the one I went to last year) and they kept Memphis. But most importantly, they brought back Atlanta....

See you at a couple of these shows.

Doh, Maybe I Should Have Went to Vegas...

And no, not to gamble or to go to the World's Largest Forever 21 either. But to go to CES.

I'll break down CES for you: The International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is a major technology-related trade show held each January at the Las Vegas Convention Center in, you guessed it... Las Vegas, Nevada. Not open to the public, CES previews of products and new product announcements....

... which includes tchotchkes for your car. Tchotchkes is an actual word, it's my word for the moment, but it means small toys and trinkets.

I was off my game for a minute, and CES slipped my radar. I knew what CES was, but I underestimated how much of an automotive presence was at CES. If I raid a particular New York DJ's blog (Funkmaster Flex), I can come up with pictures and do my own research to get information to post on here. Tragically, when I have to depend on someone else's camera phone photos, the photos tend to look... well I'll be honest, the photos suck.

*Note to self: Add CES to the 2012 Calendar.
