Bernie's Favorite: Ford Unveils the 2015 Mustang

Dec 6, 2013

When I first saw the renderings, I was a little scared. But when Ford officially unveiled the 6th Generation Mustang yesterday, my reaction changed.

December 5th 2013 was the date when Ford finally revealed the actual 2015 Ford Mustang around the world-- and yes, they unveiled it in the greatest city of all... New York. We're gonna run through all of the improvements that Ford has made. In a nutshell, it's sleeker, lighter, and more modern.

After the success of the 5th generation Mustang, Ford went back to the drawing board for this latest edition. Grabbing a little inspiration from the Great Steve McQueen, most of the ideas came from the first generation of the Mustang. With that said, Ford made the new 'stang a little wider (1.5 inches) and a little lower (1.4 inches to be exact). The front end has had some changes too. In the past, Ford has had two driving lights in the grille and two outside. Not anymore!!! Now, Ford took out the two driving lights and replaced them with three LED "gills". The back end has changed a bit too. Instead of the GT in the circular logo, it's now freestanding, the trunk has been lowered 2.75 inches which is why it gives off a slanted appearance (but it also allows for more trunk space). Plus they made the tail lights slanted to match the front.

Now we're going to step inside to discuss the interior. As you can see, the interior is simply more modernized. Everything is easier to figure out. The quality of the materials used has improved, however, there's still some plastic that should have been replaced with a better quality material. Most importantly, the interior is more roomy than the previous model.

This time around, Ford is now offering three engines. There's the base 3.7-liter V6, the GT has the 5.0-liter Coyote V8, and introducing the new 2.3-liter Ecoboost four-cylinder engine. The important figures (i.e. horsepower) will be released some time next year.

I don't trust photos, especially in the Photoshop age but doesn't he look great??? I can't wait to see him in person, which will probably in 2014 at the New York International Auto Show. Everyone knows that the 2015 Ford Mustang won't hit Atlanta until 2015. If you don't believe me... remember the Chevy Corvette. I had to go back home to see it 6 months before the people of Atlanta got to see it.

P.S. The 2015 Ford Mustang is about 200 pounds lighter than the previous model. And as you're reading this, Chevrolet is probably figuring out how to improve the Camaro.
